Personally I'm glad they didn't saddle me with a backstory beyond having a deadbeat dad. Half the fun of an RPG is making your own character.
As for why you came, cause your Pa left you a house/workshop
Why are you helping people. totally up to you. Could simply be for the money.
THANK YOU for actually answering my question instead of giving me a smart ass response (I mean that seriously.) I appreciate it.

YMMV, I suppose. I was just curious to see if there was more information besides setting up a semi-blank slated character for you to play as.
I didn't notice that, I was just scratching my head as to why the MC cares about the town at first. A year in, I get it, but right away?
Its not really a big mystery. Your dad abandoned you, left you a shack. You need to make money to live off of. Through any method you choose.
No one makes you care about the town. That's fully up to you. Its not really different from anyone who moves to a new town looking to make a fresh start.
I get that, I was curious if there was MORE because this game was story-driven despite the sandbox elements. Which there is, I just haven't found it yet. Voilà, question solved.
I'm truly glad you all like the game as is, I do too, this was not criticism - it was curiosity.
