House Upgrade 4, Meh
Just wanted to start a conversation and hope a Dev pays attention~

Anyone else consider House upgrade 3 looks far superior to House upgrade 4? I prefer the more ramshackled wooden appearance that improves over time... but then the house becomes a ultra prestine stone Manor with less character (or windows for that matter.)

I read that Upgrade 4 is required for kids and quite honestly I'm considering not having the little buggers (or buffs) just to maintain the orginal house style~

What are your thoughts on the matter?

See I am the exact opposite. That sounds like it would match my wall and gate. If I would want anything it would be to move the Workshop sign to my Factory or a sign near the gate. I don't understand why it's on the house. I don't craft in the house (I don't even know if it is possible, I have no memory of trying to put a furnace in there).

No, it's not possible to craft in the house. I hear you can cook on the balcony though.

You can easily find images of it online, It keeps the tall thin aspect from Upgrade 3, but its bricks 90% obscured with thick pale-tan paint or something and no windows... kinda looks like your living in the Scrooge Mc'Duck Bank or a church... Some could consider that a boon I guess *shrug*

There's a more colorful option you can get from A&G for the level 4 house. Just make sure you use the keyboard to select it because unless it got fixed, it wouldn't bring up the list of materials and costs for me when I tried to select it with the controller.

Anyone have a screenshot of this "more colorful" lvl4 option?

I haven't obtained it yet. I wish the game would let you preview it. You can sorta jank it into view from various angles if you go to A&G and select the house and go to "change appearance" and move it around on your property as if you were going to place it down. I'll probably get it when I play next so when I do I'll come drop a screenshot in here for you if nobody else has provided one.

I'd appreciate it. I've looked online and didn't find one.

Oh, I like that one a LOT better than the standard 4. Thanks for the pics!

It's the same price and material cost as actually upgrading to the level 4 in the first place. But if you played your cards right and know how to make money fast by that stage of the game you can round it up in about a week. I actually didn't have quite enough to get it so I sold a bunch of random everything and didn't let the game save. I wonder if that was an oversight to make just a slightly different version of the same house to cost the same amount. It'd be nice if they let you choose which one you wanted when upgrading from lvl 3 to lvl 4. Or maybe they did but I didn't notice it? If you are going up from level 3 to 4, could you try to keep an eye out for the the option if it IS there?

I'm a long way from there, personally (house lvl2), or I'd be happy to check. I agree it would be nice to choose appearance when you first upgrade.

Ok THAT is a reasonable looking house~

Still would miss the ram-shackle original but thats definetly an improvement over the original 4th upgrade design~

Why do you wanna live in a ram-shackle looking house so badly? You work your ass off in the game to have a nice house, not to spend hundred of thousands of gol to life in a crappy rundown looking shack.

I agree with Gremlin's opinion. The earlier houses have a sort of steampunk charm to them, and then suddenly you're living in the mayor's mansion. Sure, it's nice, but it doesn't have PERSONALITY, like the earlier houses. The alternate lvl4, with its Victorian-styling and crazy rooftop windmill keeps the charm going.
