Nice response but i dont get it :( still thanks for contributing
Same here , still nice addicting game . i still kinda like This game better than Stardew , i like this kinda graphics and style of PORTIA :) :)
So the company panthea and team 17 have other games that they sell. This is not the only product, so they are not dependent on just this game to keep the lights on.
That said, i suspect part of what keeps the game afloat is digital distribution. In order for this game to be sold in a store, some quality aspects have to be met. This is to help prevent returns. Both Online retail and Brick and mortor have quality standards. As such we do not see many early access games in stores for this reason. this quality inspection adds costs.
As does selling a phsical copy. You have to make the disks, ship the disks, and find a whole sale buyer for the disks. in the case of some retailers, you also have to pay for the shelf space(hence why the video game selection in many stores is shirnking)
In the old days, a tripple A title only made 2 dollars on launch, due to these costs, at 60 bucks. The micro transactions are in the games mostly out of greed but also out of a cargo cult attempt to milk more money out of the product.
This is why the steam and other platforms are so powerful. The games are sold as downloads, so no overhead costs. This means that despite a cheaper price, they keep more of the money.
Then there is the Early access program. We are beta testing the game. We report bugs, on our platforms. Each pc is different, so if there is a nividia, amd, or intel bug, they can find it. IT also means that when they port it to a console there are fewer issues on the consoles.
This is a very deep and nuanced topic. Don't take my word for it, i have just touched some of the issues and why and how this game can be profitable despite such a low cost.
micro transactions would destroy a game like this, because the grind IS a mechanic. You have to manage time and resoureces, just like a real business. if you want to rush things, then you have to hope that your supply chain, the local market, has favorabile prices. Honestly the economey in this game is fantastic.
