Workshop Layout
So, I'm in the process of decorating my worshop again, and I'm at a loss for what to do with the massive space in my yard. Which is why I'm here wondering what everyone else does with all the land upgrades. I'll upload a screenshot of the part I have done;

The area behind that is wide open although in the far back I have my machines tucked in nice and tight as I'd rather use most of my space for decorating.

Let me see what you got going on!

Beautiful work guys. You both seem to not use flooring in all areas of your workshops. I was planning to basically fill all of mine with the flooring but it might look better without in some areas. I also got rid of my coop and shed because I couldn't work out a good spot for them and they honestly aren't worth the upkeep imo.

I'll edit this post in a couple minutes to show my giant area that needs work. It's a ton of space, lol. Maybe I should expand the machine area?

Entrance for the house is 5 wide but the player has to use 2x2 tile wide floor plates, plus the various entrances to stables and coops are alternately 4 or 5 tiles wide and the marble fountain is 7 tiles wide. Result is a frustrating experience if you want to make everything even and semetrical.

I like plenty of room in my machine room (?!). But I can't stand grass and machines together so I covered it in conductive flooring. I used the stone fence because no-one saw any relics through the marble one.

For the farming area I used flooring simply because I'm to lazy to run around and put compost on everything.

I would love to put a path to the gate but we all know the problems there and to be honest I normally just jump on Binky the horse and jump over the nearest fence so it's not actually useful

I have put acks mrs as close to the gate as possible so he just gets in and out as quickly as possible.

Next up is a spending spree at Gusts desk to create a garden.

Ah! Final thing, all my storage boxes are colour coded for ease of finding stuff.

Yeah I managed to workaround that with the house entrance and the stable area isn't that bad. The worst part for me is the gate entrance where I cant place anything in front of it including flooring and the gate cant be moved. Good to know that others are just as annoyed with this as I am. I'll live though.

I used to have a large relic area as well and didn't have a problem with people viewing them. I also have Safety Boxes color coordinated but they are on the balcony of my house currently. Hopefully they'll let us do something with that gate area. I really love the stuff this game has for decorating so far.

What do you mean by people viewing relics? Do people come by your house and view them like they do in the museum?

Yeah they can. I had a large area with many relics sitting in my yard and usually got 1 npc to come look at something there. Usually one a day but not always. A bit of extra rep never hurts.

I like the machine area. Easy to get around in? Mines crammed together to save space but I might change that because it looks sloppy. Problem is I need more igneous flooring and its a pain to farm with the once a week spawn on the rocks.

I though that they spawn daily? Mine uses the same amount of flooring since they are not connected. That way I just remove one floor and the row become isolated to the fire generator (I dislike having the machines at less efficiency, I prefer to power them manually in that case). Besides that, I like them separated by type so I can focus on making one thing massively at a time.
