Are you at the Commerce Guild at 8 sharp and the first one to the Commission Board?
Are you picking the commissions that yield the most points?
Are you turning in commissions every day? (Avoid commissions that ask for materials/parts that would take you more than a couple of days to acquire.)
Doing these things you will always be ahead and unsure if Higgins is cheating or not.
If you take commisions to gain relationship points with people then on a like for like basis you will get behind if you take a 100 commision and so does Higgins it seems so your hand is forced to some extent to make sure you arrive before Higgins which means possibly neglecting your gathering in the first hour of the day to be there as you only have about 25 minutes to check your stuff isn't out of fuel so basically your first hour of the day is slightly wasted and you don't get those back ;)
Think of it this way if you waste 30 minutes running to Higgins timetable every day then that's 10 hours per season and 40 hours every year you are wasting which is a fair amount when you add it all up in a game forcing you to use every second wisely as that's another minute gone in game time ;)
Since we get extra comissions from quests we can earn extra points.
So it is only fair when Higgins has other sources for points too.
Yep I fully understand if he is cheating, as you say we can do story missions and museum stuff for extra points, but that is later in the game, early on it would be nice to know if he does a 400 point commision for example will he get 400 points or 600 as that can make or break you early if you are only doing 99-100 point commisions to try and build relationships.
If he gets 2 or 3 big points missions in a month in your first season you could really struggle to get that back and you need those extra gols and bonus items from 1st place to help build up your base area.
Anyway a nod from someone in the know ( glances in the direction of a dev :D ) would clear things up for us and we'd be a bit wiser as to what we need can and can't get away with when it comes to choosing commisions. :)
No way he could accomplish all the comission he takes daily with only a couple industrial furnaces. I sometimes struggle to finish some before 6pm with 3 of every machines, and level max assembly station, level max workshop, and 8 industrial furnaces.
And that's without taking into account the gathering of ressources... never seen him lumbering, hunting or anything else...
He's probably using cheat engine.
He is also definately a time lord with a tardis because there is no way!!! that he's making any of the things he's taking in his tiny home with just two furnaces
So, he's not cheating, his score system is just broken. And logically speaking no he shouldn't be able to craft those commissions with the size of workshop he has.
Edit: Confirmed in year 4 he’s getting 143-144 points daily.
If that's the case then he is there purely as an annoyance to the player and grabbing the best commisions if you don't play the game and beat him to the board and hope he doesn't grab the best one before you spot it and click on it.
Personally I can think of better ways of doing it than grabbing a high points commision from the player if he only gets 143-144 no matter what, seems a waste of a high point commision to me if he does grab it first, I don't always grab the high ones it depends what they are for and what I have in stock and can make fast enough.
This also means the other builders are the same way. They are set to a certain point system so they can never score higher than you or Higgins.
In truth the Rep system needs to be reworked.
