stuck on fishing with controller in 2018 Jan. release
just bought "My Time in Portia" and currently in love with it and all it new wonders. Got a fishing quest after never having to have to fish in the game stumped me. I have been playing with a controller because I am disabled and this is one of the few games I can seem to play with a controller. However HOW DO YOU CAST? when do you reel in or know how? and then how do you REEL IN? (to catch the darn squiggley fish)?

Not sure on the exact controller buttons but the way you fish is you have to keep the white bubble on the fish and reel it in while keeping an eye on your tension bar. If the tension bar fills up then the fish will get away. The tension goes down when you have the bubble on the fish.

The trick is to keep the bubble on the fish and reel in a little at time so tension doesn't get to high.

will try that now with such a detailed instruction and thank you...at least now I know what kind of reaction I will get with pushing buttons still. Thanks.

If anyone else knows the proper controller keys much would be appreciated.

Ok just tried Xbox One controller in my game to fish:

A to cast.
RT when ! shows up to hook fish
Right control stick to move bubble left and right, keep on fish
RT to reel in fish, keep eye on tension bar and reel in slowly

In case anyone cares about this, With an xbox controller, I had to reel in with the X button (would be Square for a PS controller). I believe the popup tutorial text said LT which was just wrong.

That's a beef I have with the game. A lot of stuff isn't explained very well and you have to go online to get basic info that should be included with the game.

I still enjoy it and it's closing in on the most played game in my Steam account.
