the idea is you have a box on the side of the road
and once a day or week some comes to emty it and give cash in return

Stardew valley had a sell box and the Mayor picked up the items every night. You could still go and sell manually and talk to NPCs if you like.

Having the option would be nice.

Nice idea, that'd add more possibility of meeting any townsfolk randomly because they're delivered to my door.

I often stay at home or simply want to dump excess materials. Having something to turn your things into cash quickly from the comfort of your home would be pretty nice, saves on inventory management as well. However, I don’t feel like it would necessarily be in the spirit of the game to go all in. Rather, I’d like to see NPC trading a bit more fleshed out by giving each item a market fluctuation and NPCs only accepting items they can sell in their shop, with the box then used for raw materials that are collected every day by someone trading in that.
