Recycle machine?

I just built the recycle machine, but I have no idea where it's for.
Can anybody explain? Thanks!

build something, put it on bar drop it in machine profit ?

Basically it return something to its material (Example Conductive Wood Flooring when put inside will return you 2 Hardwood Plank and 3 Copper Wire), but doesn't work on bar, so my guess is it just return you the material if you accidentally build something too much from the worktable.
