Any other uses for Insulated Planter Box

I know you need to use this to craft an item but are you able to use it like the small and large planter boxes?

I have checked the wiki in regards to its usage and it does say that it can be placed in the workshop to grow seeds and plants. I have tried placing it within the workshop boundaries but not even a marker display on where it will be placed is showing.

Another matter, cultivated soil. Again, from the wiki, it says you can use it to speed up growth. When I try to interact with it like I do with fertilizers on planter boxes, it does not have any actions at all to be used. So are they meant to be used on planter boxes?

So far not - you can sell them in town though. Maybe there will be plans for some sort of greenhouse later where they are involved, so vegetables can be harvested all year round.
