Everything else involves too much clicking or waiting time. You can get 3-5g more, melting bars even more, but it isn't really worth the time clicking and organizing everything.
I'd rather wait for more content :'D
I think Cold Steel Bars sell for a Lot... i think thats what Charcoal + Iron ?
Topaz is a great way to make money selling for 80g a pop but more uncommon, unless you find the yellow crystals in the desert.
In the beginning, the best way to get money is Stone Tools. No, I'm not kidding. A stack (100) sells for 800. You'll easily get two stacks in a day from mining in the abandoned mine.
"late game" after you've gotten your iron pick, the best bet is breaking open the bigger rocks. That will net you Topaz, bloodstone and marble. As well as stones! The Topaz goes for 80gil, bloodstone for 15gil. The whole run (from the woodfarm -> edge of town -> elevator, will get you about 25-40 Topaz, and 20-30 bloodstones. About 150 marble and about 300 stone. As well as Copper and Tin ore. I do that run once the big ones respawns whenever I can. I'm almost lv.30, and it will even be more profitable once you've got that 100% increase in drop from rocks.
And pick up every single town commision you can. The big ones, that give you 1500-3000gil. When a project pops up (bridge, roads, tree farm, elevator etc) grab em, grab as many as possible.
Gets me about 1000 gols per 25, wich takes about 50 marble and a bunch of stone (of which I always have too much, which is why I started doing it in the first place).
Other than that, commisions are pretty good I guess. I tend to just do all the story things and get my gold that way, anything else covers my expenses on clothes, transport etc.
Anything else you do will essentially be just pocket change. All of your major money comes from Comissions. Spend your first week collecting resources and occassionaly poking in to see if any comission is easily completeable. Set yourself up at least 5 stone forges, 2 civil cutters, 2 basic skivers, and 2 grinders.
Be sure to always be collecting resources and running SOMETHING in your production facilities. Always be smelting copper or bronze bars occasionally swapping to Stone bricks or Glass. You can ignore charcoal for a bit. Get a stockpile of upwards of 100 copper bars and 200 bronze bars, you wll need them. Cycle those bars into pipes and plates, not so much the other items as you won't need them as often.
If you're doing it right you should be able to show up at 8 am every day, snag the best town comission (which tend to take the big assembly structures) and complete them within an hour. This free's up your day to do whatver, work on quests or collect resources.
You will never make more money trying to harvest and resell your goods, the game just isnt designed this way.
Protip: Prepare 5 DeeDee transports before ever finishing the bridge quest, that way when you get to them you can complete them all in one day and get a massive boost to your coinage.
