My Time at Portia

My Time at Portia

Statistiche:
Why Is My Character So Slow?
I have turned down the resolution, turned everything to fastest because it was like my character was walking though molasses. It seemed to work and everything was good until I turned the game off and came back to it a half hour later.

Now it doesn't seem to matter what the settings are at as she is painfully slow at walking again. Sprinting gives me the same speed as a normal walk.

This is a great game but I am ready to throw in the towel on it as it's unplayable for me.

I am running on Windows 10 AMD 8 core processor with an AMD Radeon R7 200 series graphics.

Help please.

If you are running the game form a HP laptop between the years 2016-2017 (not sure of 2018) you mau be suffering form the same issue I am currently dealing with. My laptop has a Gen 5 Grafics card but the processor (While advertised as being able to handle HD) is only a Gen 2 compat. They do this on purpose so the laptop will burn out in a few years and you will be forced to buy a new one. My sugestion is to mod out a few years down the road to solve the processing issue. I wouldnt worry about warentys on this model laptop since it literly designed to Fail right after the warenty expires. (its a soultion to a temp issue but I will be getting a desktop PC in the near future.) as for a free soultion there is a Game Optomization tool for an Antivirus Security program called I-Obit it can help your system run games better.
I have the same probleme a couple of time and when i press the X button the problem is fix :)
Hope that gonna help you :)
Note to self that this conversation is actually two seperate errors. One of them is actual game lag having to do with computers being overpowered, though what exactly is overpowering them is unkown. The other is an actual bug in game where your character continuously walks and no longer runs. Pressing shift to run works fine and runs while wasting endurance, but physical normal walking is turned down painfully slow for some reason. I was in winter of my first year toward the end of the month and had a LOT of stuff in my inventory (I was planning to sell soon when the market was up), and suddenly my character randomly starts running slow after quarrying. Its stuck like this even when i empty the inventory.

Can't tell you how many times I almost pull my hair out because I hit the X button and didn't realize it...

Cheers..!
I have the same problem. My Character is very slow.
She moves in walking pace when I use shift+W, but when I am not, she looks like ahe is sleepwalking
Your character is slow due to the rendering. All those trees, leaves, etc slow up your graphics and will slow up your character. Turn everything down to minimum and do this..

At your house, just run east or west across the fields, see how fast you go. Now, look up and run, since your visual area isn't rendering those graphics, you'll see yourself speed up considerably while running, because those graphic rendering aren't slowing up your processing. This also works when kicking trees, cutting trees, mining stone. Look up while your doing it and you'll do it faster.

Of course on higher systems this will be less of a problem since you can render stuff faster, but on slower systems like mine, i learned early on to just look up while running across the map, cutting, etc and get much faster doing stuff

Another thing you'll notice is if your cutting down a big tree while looking up, you'll cut faster, THEN once you cut down the tree and the stump is left, it will speed up MUCH faster since that simple tree graphic of ONE tree is gone, and you'll see just how much lag that one tree and leaves puts on your system. Its not optimized very well. A fun game, but still has problems.

They need a function in the game to be able to remove all leaves/graphics of trees except maybe just the trunk, it would greatly reduce graphic lag.

Suppose that could effect 'some' PC's, But I Don't Think So ... USERS- "Magzi" & "Doc Savage" (above) called it right - The "X" key toggles walk speed and can be hit my mistake, causing frustration. :portiaslurpee: Cheers
This is still happening after you fix the pipe in the sewers.
I have only been playing for a couple of weeks and now I find that my character is walking like the undead, since the sewer mission.
Having this exact issue in SandRock after syncing save from Steam Deck to PC. Seems to be fixed by turning off V-Sync in graphics settings.
Press "x", and you move forward slowly or normally... :)
