Help with Ack???

One of his upgrades is that he will fertilize my crops. I have fertilizer and the crops are where he can see them, but he won't fertilize them. Do I need to build something in the assembly station or do something else?

What a thing. I have the same problem, he have never add fertilizer to the plants. He already full friendship and I keep giving him gift, but nope... nada!

REVENGE!!!! Let's take Lara away from him, let's see if he is not going to do the job now.

Or also put the fertilizer on Lara Head, well maybe he will think is a new hat.

You need to have fertilizer available in one of the chest he has access to.

But dont count too much on hack for fertilizing, in my game he often forget some of the plants that are ready to harvest....

Build the fertilizer tank from the church and put irrigation floors tile everywhere under your planters. Hack will fill the tank most of the time.

Ack does use the fertilizer - but did you put it into a 'helper chest' so he has access to it? Also Ack does the work over the entire day, there is no guarantee that fertilizing is the first thing he will do in the morning, when he has other things to take care of as well.

There is no guarantee that Ack will be able to finsh the work either if there is too much for him to handle.

And last is Ack needs to be able to access the planter boxes he is supposed to harvest or fertilize directly. If you put them in dense rows he can not reach those in the middle - and if you plant double rows dierectly at the outer fence he has to run around the outside of the whole yard to reach them as well - he can't climb over the boxes.

Easiest really is to set up the irrigation system and he will fill up the irrigation tower once in a while.

Thank you! Yeah, I ended up using the irrigation floors & fertilizer tank. It's just easier and more reliable.

Dont forget to get yourself a vacum cleaner. In case you need to move things in your yard, it will be easier than having to grab each tiles one by one

You can build a helper chest at your workstation (you need to upgrade it first) it is in the furniture section.

This is blatantly not true. I have a 15 x 8 large planters next to 30 x 8 small planters. The only thing that seems to affect Ack's work is the amount of work & the amount of time available.

Helper's Storage Box is available with the Level 3 Worktable.

Weird - maybe they changed that with the last updates - he certainly had trouble reaching some of the crops I planted in earlier playthroughs.

This has worked for me for the past few versions. He does run around the outside of the workshop, even for a column of [fence] + [single, small/large planter] + [2 empty spaces]. The path-finding isn't great, but it does not prevent him from working. If he can't reach some planters, he will eventually stop moving and start performing the [work animation].

I love having Ack that guy has saved my day so many times..He tends all plants I think the fish too.. Plus he is a hoot to watch!
