Okay....and how do I do that? I got everything upgraded to the max: work table, assembly station and home but I do not see a hint to upgrade the furnace

I feel getting your hands on a civil furnace should be a bit more set then RNG that comes with the research. Which will get worse and worse if more diagrams are added to the list.

you got all but civil furnace? cant be happening, but i think the options mislead people. you can craft a generator so you think you must be able to make a civil furnace, this does make sense ostensibly, but no, every option(5, 10, 20 discs) means different level, civil furnace can only appear through giving 5 dics.

my 5 disc researches gave me some diagrams that required stuff from civil furnace but not the civil furnace so far. As I said currently it has way to much RNG and I'm on the bad side of that in my current playthrough.

EDIT: At least I got the civil furnace and as RNG wanted it was the last 5 disc research diagram that I could get.

The story will give you the civil furnance, for me it was way after I had already gotten it. just farm the discs, not sure if the 5, 10, 20 options have any bearing.
