Cooking: This can't be right...

Help me with the mechanics of this please. I'm not wealthy enough to experiment with this on my own. Let's say I'm making three servings of Shrimp and Cheese on Rice:

I open my storage, pull out 6 pieces of lobster, 3 milk, 3 rice, 3 sugar.
I now have to isolate 1 lobster, 1 lobster, 1 milk, 1 rice, 1 sugar.
I move each of them individually to the hot bar.
Then I put each item in one at a time
Wait for one serving to be done
Remove it.

I now have to isolate 1 lobster, 1 lobster, 1 milk, 1 rice, 1 sugar.
etc. repeat each step above.
Twice.

Can we make multiple servings at once? Can we combine 2 of the same ingredients (ie. lobster)? Add to this, making a trip to the farm for ingredients. Much of the day has passed.

Actually you're making it harder than it is. Put lobster meat, milk, rice and sugar on quickbar, but no need to isolate the number for making the recipe.
Add 2 lobster, 1 milk, 1 rice and 1 sugar then press cook. You gotta swap ingredients and add them without wasting much time, but it's not like it hard or anything, every time you click you add one ingredient. Press cook when you've added the required ingredients.

It doesn't matter if you have 2 lobster or 999 on the quickbar, as long as you only add 2 pieces.

Unfortunately you can't make multiple servings at once.
But once you meet the robot Ack you will be able to hire him in the future, and he can cook for you without all that hassle.

Thank you, that does help. But it's still fiddly and needs babysitting.

Yeah it's pretty annoying cooking in this game. I only do it at the beginning of the game to make gifts for certain people, but I much rather wait till Ack comes and use him as a chef, since he cooks any dish instantly and you can cook as many as you want if you have the ingreds.

It's not too far into the main mission when you meet the robot, and a few missions after he will be free and can be hired as a helper.

Also, I didn't understand I can just press Cook and not have to wait out the timer. That's a big help.
