The game is fun, people clown on Ubisoft for the wrong thing. They have created a great open world. The issue is that half the time I start this game I get an authentication error and it won't start until I restart my computer. Never mind that I have perfect fiber internet, it's a problem with Ubisoft Connect. Like why is it even authenticating? Why do I need to be online? I'm not playing online. Ubisoft Connect is a broken piece of crap and Ubisoft management needs to die. Steal this game, it will literally run better if you steal it.

Important tip: if a cat approaches you or is close to you in this game, crouch down with Bayek and he automatically pets the cat. This game is a masterpiece.

I got this the year it came out on PS4. I thoroughly enjoyed it then and am having my first replay all these years later. This was spurred on by a pretty sizable sale. It was basically the same price to buy the Gold Version of this game on PC to buy the season pass on PS4. So I decided to get it on here instead for the fresh achievements, full collection of side DLC, and also the added functionality of more customization and graphical options on PC. The game runs flawlessly smooth on my external hard-drive and still looks amazing, if this game came out this year I would still be immensely happy with the graphics and presentation.

The gameplay is the best of the recent trilogy of AC games. Everything feels much more weighty and planned out. AC Odyssey on normal is boringly easy, here there is still some challenge and you need to rely on stealth otherwise a few sword swings might spell your death. I like this a lot. Exploring the world is immersive and amazing with small details and stories to every area. The amount of detail in settlements especially is insane, you could spend literally hundreds of hours in them trying to find every detail and see it functions perfectly realistic as a town. With tanneries, inns, farms, shops, homes, and full schedules that every NPC follows. Immensely impressive and the best world the series has produced thus far.

Bayek is the best AC protagonist since Ezio... And listen, I love Ezio I have a comfort attachment to him that no-one else can surpass in this series... But... Bayek is the best even over him. The voice-actor gives his absolute all and is one of the most convincing voice performances I have ever heard, especially in the anger and sadness, yet the dichotomy of Bayek is so good. So many people make the mistake of writing a vengeance-fueled character as only dark and brooding and angry. But Bayek is a good person with soft moments, especially among children and the powerless. Just amazing, and the VA, Abubakar Salim, has now went on to found his own gaming studio and recently released (and voiced the main character in) Tales of Kenzera: Zau. Very proud of him and stunned by his immense talent.

AC Origins is an inspired game, which is a very rare thing to say about Ubisoft indeed. And sadly since Origins they have fallen into their method of reproduction. Odyssey, while still good, is a lesser Origins, and Valhalla is an even lesser Origins and Odyssey, and outright not good. Origins is great, and the defining moment in the series past AC2/Brotherhood for me that showed true inspiration.

It also helps that Egypt is a very underdone setting in video games and deeply interesting. So those of you into that setting, please check this out, you will not be disappointed as it gives Egypt a love-filled and caring exploration.

Also give Bayek a sequel already.
