My great idea of ​​the week was to read some visual novel.

It's been quite a while since I last read any novel, and I wanted to read something interesting.
So I went online to search for the most popular VNs to see which one would catch my eye. Of course the results were FATE, Steins;Gate, etc. Since I'm kinda familiar them (Even thought I haven’t read the originals) I decided to dig just a little bit deeper.
And that was the moment when I came across this wonder.

The little description I saw was interesting: A very typical beginning that turns into a trippy ride, covers a good number of interesting topics and ends with you crying like a baby. Just perfect.
Around the same time, I was listening random Japanese OSTs from some old shmups and somehow came across the credits track from this same novel. That was the moment I realized that I wanted to read it first from the entire list I had selected.

So what went wrong?
Uhh... The game made me incredibly uncomfortable with how horny it is.
I learned that before starting the game it is recommended to install a patch that literally makes the game 5 times bigger (Because as I understand it, the steam version only has 1 chapter out of 6???) and (Of course) adds those spicy scenes.
I thought I was prepared for this, because I know how much VNs love to show this.
Boy, was I wrong.

It starts out pretty normal. Here we have a tsundere childhood friend and her lil' sister, and later we meet a strange and slightly mysterious 3rd lady. Each of them cliche asf.
Well, okay, this is just the beginning, and at least the main character is not an ordinary intimidated weirdo, but a very daring madam, so that's new.
But then, somehow, in a span of 30 minutes, each of the 3 girls literally begs to live in the main character's house, where one of them has already taken on the role of a maid... And guess what? They're already trying to put their hands down your pants.

The turning point for me was the first choice.
Everyone got drunk and started playing cards for a wish. In a moment, all of them are sitting naked in front of you and you have to choose which one of these absolute cliches you want to kiss. Like, dude, I've only been reading this for an hour, why do you want to turn this into soft p😳rn?
I'm just so glad I had the option to refuse each of them and make them get dressed again.

Maybe there is an interesting story hidden somewhere further, but what I saw was enough for me.

oh wow, I don’t even know what to say.
For starters, my play-time far exceeds whatever is listed here. At the time of this post, I’ve already completed the second “chapter”,

Want to also add, Steam user RGON has an amazing review for this game and it encapsulates the essence, along with some disclaimers. Moreover, get the patch and at least play to chapter2. Amazing writing, atmosphere, characters. I’m “shook” by the end result, but never have I ever played a VN that compelled me as much to want to continue. It’s the type of experience that has you thinking long after the credits roll, and each chapter id say sets the stage for not only a new story line, but rather new feelings. I’m still questioning what I thought I knew, and even more anticipated on what’s to come. The type of game where spoilers would do no good other than to serve as an example of what kind of rollercoaster you might find yourself on. This is the game that serves as the perfect example of what the AO tag could mean, which essentially means no limits on creative content, rather than some “goon-fuel” like most use it as. With that said, I have yet to embark on the more ‘ambitious’ content which might be what turned a lot of people away. For reference, “The Shell” part 1, using the patch was too much for me in terms of grotesque, so I hope this game doesn’t rise to that level, but I’ll cross that bridge when I do.

This game will keep you guessing, as you never truly know what’s real or what to believe. So many twists and turns, you start to rummage through your list of known cliches and antics, only to find out you were wrong from the start. And the way the game starts is extremely deceptive, since it begins as some every-day slice of life with a touch of a strange relationship or two. It builds a foundation that sets the stage for everything to follow, as it continues to dilute itself time and time again, tainting its original form with more wickedness each time over. It mixes in layers of philosophy as reference, and demonstrates a lot of those themes throughout its duration, and never fails to capture the viewers attention. At times it can be confusing, but I appreciate that it never tries to “dumb down “ its content out of fear of becoming too complex, so it does not cater to the commoner.

The themes are mixtures of theology, biblical references, philosophy, science, astronomy, and the study of reason. It’s a nice departure from what’s mostly put out today, and it never seems to lose its momentum as it continues dragging you by the feet on your next plunge into dissonance.

I give this game an 8.5/10! The game can be wonderful in its own way, but I doubt many other people will see it that way if they ever play it, which is why I can't recommend it to anyone for many reasons. This game is not for the faint of heart, as there are many disgusting parts that people will be put off by. I truly love the music of this game, the art style can be beautiful, and some of the characters are very well written. The author did a good job of writing an amazing story, but he does a terrible job of showing that to the audience. The NSFW scenes bring this game to minus 2 points; it just felt unnecessary at times, but if you can push through those scenes, I'm sure you can find the beauty of this game like I did. This game probably won't be my favorite VN as I continue playing other ones, but I truly enjoy reading it at times. Thank you for reading my review and remember to Live Happily!
