Angler Fish Hunting

So I'm going for that achievement, wanted to ask for help and also mention my findings so far as I haven't seen a good dedicated thread for this. So here we are!

So far I have found a consistent 5 at Varuna(6 usually but one time I only got 5 so I'm wondering if a spawn is not 100%) 4 in the crane building and 2 on the way through the motherlode key door. It works out pretty well with the caches too for some free resources, you can pretty much grab each cache as you're hunting with minimal time taken away.

So far my method is to circle the world to ensure they respawn, but also because I still need a few more screecher kills so I'm also hitting the big islands.

Anyone have a better method? 6 at a time seems slow, but it's also better than one at a time per island so I'm not exactly complaining.

Hmmmm.... I really try not to do things that sound like save scumming :/

No issue with it, but I want to feel good about getting the achievements, not like I cheesed em. You know?

Sail away from Varuna, at about 2250m it will despawn and respawn in front of you. Usualy reachable with just a sail. Every new instance has 6 new anglerfish. 4 behind the jellyfish and 2 more behind the motherlode door.
There doen'nt seem to be a better method to get the achievement.

Yeah, I had thought so too.

I mean, Like I said. I've been doing the screacher achievement for like... 3 runs now and I'm only JUST getting near to 50, so 6 at a time isn't at all a bad thing when I've been dealing with one at a time per island XD

Using full engine power (speed 2.5), diving gear, the sword and the buffs it was doable in a modest amount of time.
While doing the screacher achievement, you can also do a lot of other achievement tasks at the islands. E.g. warthog, treasure, pufferfish, trader.

Yeah, I did all those! haha, I am down to 3 hiddens, angler, screecher, and live 365.

the worst achievement I guess is the 5k hook items. is there a faster way to do it or just swinging the hook and get it back like 5000 times.

So, this is the only one I felt okay with kind of cheesing because... Excuse but... ♥♥♥♥ hooking 5k items AND I had already gotten 4300. So I felt pretty good.

So here's what you do.

Get like 2 stacks of rope. take your backpack off(If you don't have enough items to fill your backpack as well). then get a full inventory of plastic or planks, or whatever. leaves.
Drop anchor. Go to the side of the raft, drop everything but your rope. put 1 rope in each inventory slot. grab your hook and reel everything in on repeat while you vomit the resources out because you can't hold them

Profit.

I can assure it works on the current patch. I did it the other day.

And I'm also struggling a little with the angler kills. I traveled for a while but coming back right now to Varuna they didn't respawned. I dont know if I didn't went too far or what, but yeah, gonna try your method killing screechers around the world then come back

You need to travel away from Varuna until it despawns behind you and respawns in front of you. (At about 2250 distance) That new instance will have 6 fresh Anglers.

Thanks man!

You gotta keep moving forward. If you don't Go around the "world" the map won't respawn.

You get to a point beyond all islands (I believe this happens in any direction but I've not tested it) and a new set of island spawns will come about where everything will respawn.

Don't quote me here but I noticed that too, for other things as well, namely the screecher kills.

From what I can tell is the achievements have their own updating on steam that is not concurrent, specifically, with the game itself or the game save. I tried looking, then saving and looking and saw it didn't change. Kept going with the hook and eventually I did get it.

I am unsure HOW or WHEN it updates the steam achievements, I assume steam has a time, something like every 10 minutes? 20? 30? Where it updates all you've done in your games and ticks over on the achievements.

On a computer if you highlight from the first word of the achievement, hold down shift, the use the arrows to highlight the rest, you can then copy the unseen text and paste it into something else. I use stickies.
