Raft
Hardmode.
What factors does this change?

Thanks.

The required number of spear strikes, arrows for all types of animals, damage to the character, the number of sharks (up to 3 pieces), the speed of the character's needs, you will come to eat and drink much more often.

Would you say it's OTT (Over The Top) then??

It's gonna be personal preference. When I play with my daughter we play normal because that's where she is comfortable. But when I play solo, which is the vast majority of the time, I play hard mode. Normal is simply too easy for me.

I can appreciate that. Would you say Hardmode is OTT though?

You'll notice it much more at the beginning. Once your raft is armored and you have plenty of food in storage, no big deal. It's when you have to deal with multiple hogs for example at the same time, or 2 screechers on a large island, those sorts of things can be a little complicated.

And I admit, my daughter has had to log in a time or two to rescue me when I've died and she is always terrified to do it. lol

You can't respawn alone, you need a friend and a bed
Your hunger and thirst bars deplete much faster ( 10mins for thirst and 14mins for hunger )
When you go to sleep, you lose some of your hunger and thirst bar
Your health bar depletes much faster than in other modes when you reach 0 in hunger or thirst
The shark attacks really often ( every 2mins )
If you attack the shark, another will come ( there can be up to 3 sharks at the same time )
Shark baits last 1m40s ( instead of 1m20s in other modes )
Each hostile animal requires less hits to kill you than in other modes ( normal mode damage multiplied by 1.2 )
Each hostile animal requires more hits to be killed than in other modes
[ In ( ) => number of hits required to stop a shark's attack on your raft ]

If you're playing solo, playing hard mode is basically playing iron man mode unless you invite people to revive you every time you die.

Before I rage quit soloing on hard mode, how many hits can you take from a bear if I ever get there? (I died on the rats on the yacht so sad T_T and I get to start my game over haha) Shark is 3 hits, Rats were like I think 5 or 6 hits but I hope bears are also 5 or 6 hits xD lol

It is pretty laughable. Most of these animals already take too much punishment on easy mode. On normal it takes like 50 shots from a fiberglass recurve takedown bow with broadhead arrows to kill the mama bear. Lmao. It's "challenging" I guess, from a resource standpoint. In reality though if you pierce pretty much any animal once then it only has a little time left. Just the act of catching and releasing a shark is often enough to do it in.
