Raft

Something fishy is going on here ....
So.

I, like alot of others long for the Shark to be a more serious and dangerous part of the game. For me personally it is the single aspect that has held back my supporting the project because I am honestly tired of games claiming they are about survival and then taking a limp-wristed aproach at it.

Now this has been a hot topic since early days and it is definitey not something that didn't have a sizeable following of request.

So .... is this an unfiliated project or did the devs' listen?

If this is NOT anything to do with Raft it shows 2 things.

1 - Just how cut-throat todays' industry is and how fast (mere months) someone will capitalize on your apparent ignorance.

2 - That having no stance can cost. I am by no means advocating this. As much as I would love to see a game more akin to this one I very much feel for the Raft team and post this as much to make them aware (not exactly a common theme) of this project for them to act if they have not already done so.

THAT SAID!!!!

This one does not claim to be early access .... the assets seem of decent quality ... if we are honest conceptually neither game has "much to it" in terms of scope and breadth so did some nasty AAA studio just create a on paper "studio" to whip out a clone featuring fan requested features and steal some thunder?????

I find this fascinating. Minecraft is the best example of what happens when you sit on an idea ... it was a sole developed title for a long time and by the time it actually released there was SERIOUS competition.

But the speed THIS has occured is - I am pretty sure - unprecedented. I cannot recall a case where competition hit this fast on a concept that quite honestly had never been touched before. Usuaully the bigger fish wait to see if the community even take a bite before investing their own time and money.

For me. This really has raised far more questions than answers.

Just curious, but what serious competition did Minecraft have when it came out? And what do you want from a survival game for it not to be considered a limp-wristed approach? Again, just curious. I don't know what else they can really do with the shark that wouldn't just make it impossible to play with. Attack more often? That would seriously limit the amount of time you can do anything else. If it attacks until it's dead, you better hope you can build a big enough raft or else you will be stuck with a single block raft, unable to kill it fast enough before it destroys several foundations. Not saying there isn't something they could do with the shark but what would work that wouldn't just make the game a chore?

If they tried to make it look "gritty" they dropped the ball because that looks like a$$.

This can be worrisome for the Dev team, but it is kind of an odd compliment.

There is a saying of "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.", and to have someone else try to mimic Raft means that someone else thinks the idea is viable enough to make their own version.

Who knows, maybe Redbeet has set into motion the starting of a new genre! The Drifter Survival game!

I'm actually beginning to think this is completely the other way around. Unisoft Games original release a version of Raft called "Raft: Original Survival". Which looks just like Redbeats version to some degree. Now UniSoft is releasing another version of the game which looks a lot like their original release of the game. Something fishy is definately going on here.

Unisoft is expanding their phishing.

Also that isnt photos of the actual game. They are mock ups and i think that game is going to be a doppelganger sucky suck. Like people think its a actual game and its not. May be wrong but theres no actually gameplay or real in game screens. Agian though make raft in vr. Like forest did that would be awsome.

I realised this on a 2nd look. My first thought was no video footage. But if you look it does look like it's drawn. HOWEVER it could also be cell shaded.

Well I am not going to outright accuse people on their own social forum but the fact is that they are EA and this is claiming to be a full release ... so this is something that for me was implied but I wasn't going to touch on it out of respect.

It is possible it is the other way around. BUT the screenshots do look like art when you blink and look again. It is a very very strange one.

yeah.. but look at UniSoft Game's website. Same pics there from their Raft:Original Survival game (or pretend game).

also just noticed that the Nomad Raft game from UniSoft game just got pushed back to Sep 5th.

This is a personal comment and does not represent any legal opinions tied to Redbeet Interactive AB:

This firm is well known for being scummy. They have three separate company’s, all hiding behind fake names and addresses. Raft was released on itch in December 2016, and the game in question was released in second quarter of 2017, as a clear rip off of Raft. We’ve had many legal issues with this team, for stealing assets and using our logo in marketing. They’re also using assets from other games (Rust - the hammer, furnace and water purifier just to mention a few), and they are also clearly abusing the steam system by pushing back their release date. They have also sent us quite some rude emails regarding them launching on steam, where most of them were close to being, if not completely illegal with the content and language used in them. Just to verify, the screenshots you see are art / photoshop, the game looks even “worse” than our prototype, as Synapsis says.

Official comment:

While we can’t tell you what’s going on, be sure that we will handle this.
