Raft
Food and water
I hope the decrease of food and water has been adjusted.. it goes down way too fast in my book..

Oh yeah, i forgot. if you dont like fishing - get an upper deck with 10- 15 bird nests
i run around with a stack of 20 eggs all the time cause i ve chests full with 100s of eggs.
10 eggs equals a full hunger bar when it starts to blink

bird nests are by far the most powerful way to get food, because you dont need to invest time.
you just try to let the birds sit and dont get to close when you collect your eggs

Please be aware this should stay a survival game. If everyone wants patches to make things easier, the game is dead for me. There is no problem with food and water at the beginn of the game if you manage to survive. The game isnt designed to stay afk on your raft and build. there should always be something to do. once you have some collection nets you never need to use your hook. once you have your stationary anchorand you never need to build a throwable anchor. you will be thankful that the hunger goes down to run across your raft with your fishing rod because there is not much to do and you can do all sorts of things while you are fishing.
in my game i have chests full of soups and meals.

PS: the plastic on my raft never gets more. if you dive every island you find and loot everything, you need so much diving gear that everything on plastic you collect between the islands is gone again. (large islands take me 2-3 diving gears to clear)

everyone is entitled to an opinion. i personally think that food water needs balancing. yes it's a game, but you shouldn't need to eat amd drink every couple minutes. it doesn't need a massive change to make the game easier. it just needs balancing

After the latest update I have no camplaints about food. If you cook some soup / stew and you fill the extended food bar to max. you can explore the whole large island without eating. The extended bar decreases very slowly. Now I don't need to catch any fish, grow any plants or even collect eggs.
I would like to see the same with water / drink - the extended bar for drink and some drink which you would need to cook and which would fill the extended drink bar to max...

Guys, look on the date this Topic was posted... there are easy normal and hard mode now. just choose the right one for you. Also if you play a longer game it would be boring, if the set it easier.
You can just cook a soup and you will be fine for a long time.

I haven't really looked at what the difficulty settings change, don't necessarily want to make the rest of the game easier just relax the food/drink needs a little.

The new patch landed. The only thing I saw in post about the patch was that food and water will be HARDER to maintain in hard mode. Perhaps it just wasn't mentioned but it's the one thing I really, really want to see changed in the game. Just relax it a tad so I'm not constantly drinking and eating.

This is what i saw with food/water
Green_Plus: Modified food and thirst decrease a bit to be more fair.

So it seems food/water was modified for the game, not just in hard mode. Which is a good thing.

Regarding "survival" game, i get we should have to eat and drink, but pre patch it decreses so rapidly, that u have to intruppted one island scavaging to eat and drink.. thats way too quick.

havnt played after new patch, but will later tonight. hope its less if an intrupption..

I read all the green plus signs. That one wasn't the last one on thet list when I read it earlier, it must have been added later.

I played for a bit and it seems like hunger and thirst have been slightly adjusted. If so it feels like it's still a bit off because you can chow down on a half dozen potatoes and a shark steak and still be starving half to death. I think I'm looking for more food/water gain from eating or drinking rather than just a slightly slower meter. The amount you gain from eating a large amount of food seems way too low. Then again potatoes grow in no time instead of several weeks and you catch something with every cast... eh. Maybe it's okay like that.

Anyway, it feels like I can actually do something in between the cycle of eating and drinking, fishing, growing food, and boiling water but it's still a bit too fast. I do like that food and water are requirements, and sleep should be, too. That way the shark being able to break parts of the raft becomes significant since he can probably chew up a few pieces while you're sleeping.

Not a fan of the idea of having impervious armoured sections of the raft, but I get that it simply becomes a tedious chore to repair the raft and repel the shark after a while so some people might want that. I'm not very far in yet but I have a very large raft and often don't get to the shark fast enough to stop him from destroying a part of my raft, so I spear him once or twice then a chunk breaks off and he leaves. I have enough resources that I just slap a new piece down and carry on as if nothing happened.

I really like this game and am looking forward to additional content. I also hope to start playing this with other players soon. I think it would really shine with three or four other people.

** Oh, and one request - put in a pause feature, please. Sometimes people need to.. you know... eat, answer the phone, go to the washroom....

I address the pause feature and its very much needed, even in MP. Like you said, piss breaks, time to make another cocktail and so on. Dev did state, they support the idea however are unable to make this possible in this version of the game.

I've kind of gotten away from playing lately mostly because it is stressful to me to CONSTANTLY have to interrupt whatever I'm doing to eat/drink AGAIN. I was playing the game for relaxation, but find myself having to constantly multi-task and rush around just like at my job - all because of eating. Then I'm thinking, I deal with stress and multi-tasking all day at work, why put myself in this stress AFTER work? Even growing crops and making soups didn't help much at all. I was so excited when I finally made a soup and then it was like . . .WHAT? That's it? It's that CONSTANT having a clock run out on you that creates the stress. I like adventure and danger, but not having to do a repetitive task over and over and over - or die. I was okay with it at first, but then I felt like there should be a way to get away from that as you advance, either through a significantly superior food or ability or something.

Precisely why I haven't bought the game yet, among a few other annoyances. And why mods (that aren't continued anymore) can't fix that long-term keep me on the fence about buying. There's a clear difference between requiring the player to do a super-repetitive task to avoid penalties, and a somewhat repetitive task to get bonuses. Some developers never quite reach that epiphany in gaming, which is unfortunate.

Get a cooking pot, make a 5 stack of any advanced recipe(mushroom omelette, drumstick with jam, head brought, ideally shark dinner - gives 3 bowls ) and you are good for a long time. Once you get the food bar in "extra food" zone it decreases much slower than normal, and its a non issue from here on. Food is a problem for maybe the first 1-2 hours of play. And after you reach the big islands its a complete non factor, because you get tons of fruits that you can pretty much live of.

Here is an excellent guide : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1648718375

Raft has its issues but managing hunger/thirst is a super easy one, and if I am saying that i mean it. I HATE the survival elements of survival building games and i have no problems with RAFT.
