Do Sauropods ignore the groundfeeders?
A recent mission in Claire's Sanctuary requests the growth of plants detrimental to Sauropods, but as they are sharing their enclosure with the Ankylosaurids who can eat this plant, I want to know if they can still cohabit or if I have to move them to a new enclosure to avoid the Sauropods trying to eat from the groundfeeders and getting ill.

Will Sauropods avoid or ignore the groundfeeders?

Almost all sauropods eat from the tall feeders, with the exception of Nigersaurus.

I have wondered this myself actually. So ground feeders CAN have plants in them that are not good for the Sauropods that use the tall feeders.... That's good to know.. Ty

As Zoie said, Sauropods will ignore ground feeders, other than Nigersaurus.

I have three Apatosauruses (Apatosauri?) and one Brachiosaurus, so I assume they'll never eat from the ground feeder, correct?

Correct.

I just want to add, since it hasn't been mentioned for some reason, if you're ever confused about what sort of feeder your dinos eat from, is explained in the info profile section on every dinosaur (afaik), after you release them.
The Nigersaurus, for example, even specifically explains that, despite it being a Sauropod, it eats from ground feeders.

I'm very confused about this. Why are some of the sauropods not using the ground feeders? I know for a sure the Diplodocus was expected to be aground feeder in real life. Not to be a super nerd or anything, but this is kind of bothering me that in the game it feeds from the tall plant feeder.

Only niger eats from the ground feeders

you would think Diplodocus would eat from ground feeders since it cant crane it's head upward very well but the JP canon's dinosaurs have odd characteristics compared to what they actually were like due to their creation.

Sauropods can stand on two legs temporary, it's what Diplodocus would do sometimes if they wanted to raise their heads higher. But that was mostly done when fighting off predators or knocking down trees, they didn't do this to feed on the tops of trees.

The reason they knocked down the trees?
To get at the ferns growing near the base.
A 4 tonne tree is no obstacle to a hungry 30 tonne dinosaur.

Well no, Diplodocus, among many other sauropods, have been proven to be ground feeders based on teeth wear. They say the evolutionary advantage to having a long neck while still feeding off the ground is called expanding your feeding envelope. Basically you don't have to move to eat in a large area.

Was my explanation not comprehensible? I am confused.

Ferns grow under trees.
Diplodocus herd wants ferns.
Solution: knock the trees down so they're not in the way!
Eat ferns.

You're both right in a sense, dont worry about it.
