I think this bait and switch is most likely their plan. They will shut down The Crew 2 and force players to switch to Motorfest.

Also, the chase squad shown in the showcase (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nij-T01zQzk) seems to be heavily inspired by NFS (the art style has some NFS Unbound vibes to it).

Maybe they are hoping to lure some of the fans from other franchises who are unaware of The Crew's fate, and that is the real reason for the steep discount.

I am aware of original Crew but can't be bothered with it. I just bought this one, will get my money's worth (aka 10k IDR) and be done with it if they kill the game.

The idiots just buying it to play for an hour and leave a negative review are just going to ensure these crappy publishers never give us anything this cheap again. We know Ubisoft sucks, but them selling us their game for $1 and promising an offline mode is basically the most consumer friendly thing they've ever done. The map size in The Crew 2 is probably 15-20 times larger than the maps in Forza Horizon 4 + 5 as it also have planes and boats.
UBI supported The Crew 2 weekly from 2018-2023, so who knows how much content they added for 5 years. It's a massive game either way.

No one, Ubisoft can still steal all your Ubisoft games because that is what they are, scammers that sell a game but act as if they rented a game and pull the plug whenever they decide to stealling the games you paid for (they sell the game on Steam page and on their pagee, at "no point whatsoever" they mention it is "a rental with no expiration date".

No, they can just remove access from you from palying the game, like they did with The Crew 1.
You have the game, you can stil install it but it just wont even get to menu and wil require an activation code you never had or needed and that Ubi will never ever going to give you because "get used to not own your games anymore and come enjoy your future adventures with our new games!!!".

I am hating ubisoft more and more. To hell with live service. We want games with offline access back.
