Yeah but trickery is sweaty work, can't let it drip in to his eyes.
Anyways, the amount of stat points you need to cast a spell is equal to 10+ the spell's level. So to cast a basic cantrip, you need a caster stat of 10. To cast 1st level, you need a caster stat of 11 and so on.
So if Bards can only cast up to 6th level spells, that means you only need a Charisma score of 16, and can invest the rest of your points into whatever you want.
I was going to start with a 12 and know from the playing I've done so far that I can get a +2 headband well before I would get level 3 spells.
A +4 version would give me the 16 I need for level 6 spells, which is the limit for Bards in this game.
But I would need it by level 13 to be able to cast level 5 spells as that's when Bards get access to them. I don't care so much about the DCs of his spells, just want to be able to cast them for buffs.
Hmm, well I haven't memorized exactly where to find high level Bands of Charisma, but I think I know where to find something that's far superior: The Lonely Barrow!
One of the items you get from defeating the boss is a hat that adds a massive buff to your Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma. A benefit which is only shared with the crown you receive upon becoming King / Queen of the Stolen Lands.
If you manage to get your hands on the Dimension Door spell, you can actually bypass the door, without having to do the quest. Just move into the corner and teleport through the wall.
Do this, however, and the boss will probably be a dangerously high level, due to your party challenging them so early. If you want to risk it, go ahead. Otherwise, just hold off until you get your crown, as it's far better than any headband, and probably more regal too!
Yeah dude, safe as Tartuccio has a +4 headband at the end of troll troubles - usually around level 7 characters :)
Crown gives +6 to Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma
Wizard Hat (not its real name) gives +8 to Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma
Didst thou not see my previous post? As long as you have the Dimension Door spell, you can bypass the barrier completely. There's a spot near the corner that will let you teleport right through the wall.
When you're done (and IF you survive), you can use the same spot to teleport back out! :-)
