Lethal Kobolds?
My guys are level 3. I find a group of 3 kobolds, and they attack me, and slaugher me 7 times in a row now. I thought they were just pests? I can't hit them; none of my guys ever hit them (and one has +7 to hit). They also kill my guys in two hits (and they seem to never miss).

Playing on Normal.

Check your combat log and see if you're just getting unlucky or not.
Kobolds might be pests, but the kobolds actually have some fairly decent gear and aren't complete slouches either. You shouldn't underestimate them.

This is why stat bloat is bad..

Came across a kobold alchemist once where nobody could touch him and he single handedly killed my party with his little aoe nukes...

Well in PFRPG a Cobold has a AC of 15, ff 14 and hp 5. That means, generally you need to roll a 8 with most standard-character to hit them and you kill them mostly in 1 blow.

In the other hand, the pc-game pfrpg-kingmaker, kobolds have weirder stats so i dont say he got unlucky. I have compared all the hits and misses currently and came to a conclusion that roughly 40-50% of your own swings hit while the enemy have 60-70 up to 75% of hits with, often enough, ridicolous amounts of damage.

You have to flank every enemy always with 2 characters and use, even for the simplest of characters, all what you have. Just save, fight and then REST. Repead for every enemy. Thats the way the game wants you to do it until you reach a level where you can fight multiple times before you need to rest.

Stay crunchy.

I tried two more times using different strategies, problem is, they just can't hit'em. I have tried to flank them, but when 1 guy is dead in two attacks, there goes your flank. The third guy in the back was a wizard or alchemist, so I charged him with 3 of my guys at first, but useless again cause none of them could ever him him.

And lanar, this "Adjust the diffulty in options for each battle is your problem" is Bull ****
If I am actually personall responsible for balancing this game, as I play, for each battle, then I want a refund. That's got to be the worst fanboy deflection I have ever heard.

They are supposed to be slouches though. They are supposed to be insignificant enemies whose only purpose is to spice up the monotony of travel. You shouldn't have to rest after fighting a group of kobolds..

A fatal mistake that many high level players end up making with these tiny terrors!

No, they're supposed to be, as one player put it, the "viet congs" of D&D.

Kobolds are much smarter and better organized that Goblins. They know how to dig in and fortify a position with traps and trickery. They are masters of guerilla style hit and run tactics.

If you walk into a Kobold cave, thinking you can just slaughter them before lunch time, I encourage you to watch this video about the story of Tucker's Kobolds. Mind you that the party in this video is between level 6 and 12...

The reason you can't hit them is because they immediately self buff up to 22 ac. At level 2 you're encountering an enemy with 22 ac and a bunch of nasty aoes. The devs don't have any understanding of the math under the hood of the PF system. This is on "normal."

Lower your difficulty? or set the damage done to party to much lower if you hate healing.

While kobolds have some rather poor racial stats, they don't use racial HDs. This means they take levels in classes and can thus be almost as powerful as a human of the same level. It should also be noted that they are only weak when it comes to STR (-4) and CON (-2), everything else is pretty much on per with the playable races. So that means a kobold spellcaster is at least on par with any other spellcaster, and due to small size and natural armour (+2) harder to hit then most.

In 5th edition of D&D, they only get a -2 to Strength. So you can have a Kobold with like 14 or 16 Strength at character creation, depending on your rolls / point distribution.

By the way here's a link to their stats in Pathfinder.

It would be interesting to see kobolds in a more modern setting since their stats and mindset greatly favour modern warfare. Heck any era that favours guns and ranged combat, would be great for them. Just think of the fun kobolds would have with things like IEDs, sniper rifles, and trench warfare!

Kobolds are trained by spetsnaz in this game, so why are you so surprised them owning those useless heroes?
