What's with the number of chaotic companions?
Seriously, 7 of the 11 companions are one of the chaotic alignments, including 3 CN, 2 CE, and 2 CG. Meanwhile there are only 2 lawful characters with no LE and 2 neutral characters with no true neutral.

Hard to get along with my companions when I'm a Paladin.

It is what it is. The price of being a Paladin. Also CG is really the most common aligment as it falls into the mostly do what you want while usefly trying to do whats right.

That said their is always Mercs.

Pathfinder has always had a strong bias towards Chaotic, especially Chaotic Good.

Yeah, I just wish there were more of a balance across the alignments overall. With 11 companions you could at least get one of every alignment, maybe skipping true netural. I don't expect to get along with everyone as a paladin, but 7 chaotic characters just feels kind of stacked.

Yeah I can respect that. I was suprised at the mix myself since I do plan on my 2nd playthrough do run the LE path. But it is kind of par for the course in Pathfinder like 90% of their NPCs in their world are Chaotic something. They stick to the Choatics are people that do their own thing while Lawfuls are the ones that follow the rules. And in storytelling the folks that do their own thing are more intrestesting most of the time.
This irks me as well, especially considering how few companions there. Look at Baldur's Gate, and you have 24 companions to choose from, not counting the extra four in the Enhanced Edition, and their alignment distribution is fairly evenly spread.

And in Neverwinter Nights 2, they had the same number of companions as this game (11), but there was at least one of each alignment, Khelgar and Elanee (NG), Neeshka (N), Qara (CN), Grobnar (CG), Casavir (LG), Bishop (CE), Sand and Zhjaeve (LN), and Ammon Jerro (NE).

The devs had better introduce some additional companions and advisors, because the current array gives you far too few options.

I think they're chaotic to give you the ability to play the game according to your own style, rather than being shoehorned into a certain path.

Take Ekundayo, for example. As a Ranger, he's forced to be Lawful Good, so when I chose to go with the chaotic option and spare the Trolls (even inviting them to join my barony), he became outraged and chose to leave the party.

Now, if I want a ranger in the group, I have to hire one myself. And this one won't have a personality, or personal story to go with them.
Ha! And yet it'll shoehorn you into having a lot of advisors of an alignment contrary to yours because there are so few available advisor options for each position.

You wanna play a Paladin and run a lawful good kingdom? Too bad! You have to choose between a lawful evil or an irksome chaotic neutral Treasurer, the former of which would violate your paladin code of ethics in a PnP game. And if you enforce decisions you don't like, they'll get pissy and leave, leaving you with ZERO advisors for that position, because you can't hire a generic advisor with little to no backstory.

Well, the game says there are 3 advisors for every position. Though I have no idea where to find most of them.
And you can miss out on a lot of them very easily, especially if you wanna tell someone of a diametrically opposed alignment to sod off, and at least one for a few positions are completely blocked off too depending on which one you take after being crowned baron. Nope, instead they pressure you into keeping every jerk that comes your way just so they can fill a position.

Finally, if you don't take the Swordlord vassal, you're stuck with a chaotic-aligned General, neither of which are good-aligned.

And I was LOVING this game until I lost the only Councilor I'd ever have access to because of a forced plot point. Loved the kingdom development, but the companions and advisors were horribly executed.

I'm currently playing a Lawful Evil Necromancer and I find it amusing that the loading screen periodically admonishes me to carefully consider the alignment and values of the people I appoint as advisors, as if I had much of a choice. I deliberately kept some of the advisor positions vacant for much of Act 2, because I followed that advice. Eventually, I decided to appoint the few people I had, despite ideological differences, so that I at least had a warm body to assign to Events and Projects. The kingom development was the most anticipated feature of this game (its even in the title), but it is turning into the most lackluster. That said, I still enjoy the game and I am optimistic for the future with either DLC or community mods.

Speaking of lackluster, I am very disappointed that after upgrading my capital into a Town and now currently upgrading it into a City, it doesn't seem to have physically changed at all when I'm walking around in it.

The trailer for this game made it look like your capital city would grow and develop over time, but I'm seeing that to not be the case here. :(

Not getting along with your companions is kind of the Paladin's whole thing. At least it has been in nearly every tabletop game I've ever played (and most computer)

"Holier than thou stick in the mud' is practically a class ability. :D

What makes this even worse is how stupid most of the chaotic characters are, with the exception of Jubilost. I mean, Octavia is my arcane minister and has been in my party constantly since I got her, but I can't think of a single time she has chimed in during an interaction that didn't make me think she was an idiot.

No, Octavia, we're not going to spare the doomsday plant that almost killed everyone just because you think 'it just wanted to reach toward the light and grow' or whatever. Please stop sharing your opinion with me.

Well, I play as CG character and I totally agree with her. Now I have pretty gardens in my cities :P
