Valerie scar
Valerie say one of the alchemists sold her a potion that heals a scar. This is potion help or alchemist lied to her?

Considering I counseled her not to drink the potion as she couldn't reliably confirm the potion would work. I counseled against taking the risk of drinking it, especially since my MC has been supportive/in agreement with her at almost every instance except specific ones, and always made it clear he didn't care about the scar. She tossed it away with a smile on her face.

What inner beauty because I'm not seeing it. All I see is an arrogant hotheat who lacks people skills, is bigoted against certain benign religious groups, and hates all forms of art.

Finish her storyline. She doesn't want you to fix it right now, well she does, but she doesn't. Body dismorpha plus being venerated for your body then not is complicated.

Not necessarily to you OP, but oh my goodness people. I thought Valerie was insane whining about her little scar. Apparently not. Some portion of people will go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it, because idk tiny scar, now she's hideous, how do I fix this, SJWs, Hitler's inner beauty?

In a world with magical healing how does Valerie even have scar? Why isn't everyone scarred? If there are potions that effectively regrow limps (potion of critical healing) then how is it that not one of the healing potions she's chugged has healed her scars? For that matter she was chugging potions like an addict during the entire duel to stay at 100% health so how was she scarred during the duel?

I also agree that Valerie's portrait wasn't beauitful to begin with and that Valerie is a spoiled brat so she doesn't even have a beautiful soul.

For everyone asking how she has a scar, especially one that won't go away it is heavily implied that it was caused by the goddess Sheyln and is healed by the goddess after she undergoes a trial given by Sheyln's paladins

i wonder if winning a duel prevent a scar ? ( pretty sure no of course ) Even though winning a duel in legit way close to impossible, you are gonna need all the natural 20s.

I won the duel, she still gets the scar.

on hard he has 35AC, unless i roll all 20s i have no chance winning at that moment. Although i didnt apply buffs, i guess they stay on her when battle starts? Even still its very unlikely for me.

Only way it could have happened in my game. She beat down the paladin so badly he didn't even hit her once.

lol but if one looks at her charisma stat which is extremely high for a fighter class, makes sence she would not have a scar, and her "beauty (meaning looks)" would be flawless, so true to D&D and the actual meaning of Charisma both physical and personality traits, thus is the stat that dictates how one is looked at by others, and how and if one is able to manipulate others through persuation ….. just saying.

but honestly I find her quite needy of validation, how ever at the same time as unsure of herself as a preteen w daddy issues..

Charisma is not only about looks, it consists of other traits too. I guess her charisma for the larger part is based on looks. Also, I've seen numerous comments in the game that that world, or at least part where the game takes place, is still pretty much men's world. She tries to excel in certain fields which are traditionally dominated by men, which doesn't make it easy even with good looks. Both Amiri and Valerie get dismissive patronizing remarks from some npcs concerning the roles they've taken up. So without her eye catching looks people started to be even less intent on taking her seriously or started to completely ignore her. That's indeed pretty sad, because it's evident that she tries really hard to serve the country as best she can. So I can relate to her during her "pissed off" phase when she got the scar and started to pick fights with people. It's a good thing the protagonist can help her sort this out. But even if she gets the scar removed and is romanced she'll complain later how her being the ruler's woman seems to be on everyone's minds more than anything else and overshadows all of her professional achievements.

I agree with your last sentence which is why I like it, I don't like perfect characters that have no character flaws and full confidence in themselves. She contradicts herself and I like it.

While valid, generally Charisma is not only about physical beauty, but force of character. You could in theory have a buff ugly face toad be highly charismatic. Now the problem with Valerie is that her character is not very charismatic at all which leads to the only charismatic thing about her is her looks.

The problem with looks in this case is that the game is trying to force upon us how absolutly beautiful she is, when beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so players that do not find this so can find it hard to *get* the character when in their mind they are dealing with somebody who is average but goes on and on about how goreous they are.

Then again you could role play it as the MC thinking this person is so full of themselves going on how beautful they are :D

I agree that it's mostly about her physical appearance, however there were some mentions about her being natural born leader as well. I'd say it's true seeing how she is very capable in regent role (basically your second in command) and can inspire people to follow her orders.

Yea, I think that's the crux of the problem. I think realistically it's impossible to draw a benchmark absolute beauty. It's also quite hilarous to read how so many people here and on other forums are off put by her purposefully ugly haircut. Personally, I find the portrait quite adequate.

You really can't think that because she herself constantly mocks that notion, it's the other people that always drool over her.
