Pack Animals: Beasts of Burden
I would love to see pack animals introduced to the game. It boggles my mind how a party of six adventurers can haul hundreds of heavy armor and weaponry in addition to their own equipment.

Pack animals like a mule or two would be a great addition to the party. As non combat members they won't mess up with the game balance. You could leave them at dungeon / cave entrances if need be.

I don't know why but my companion wolf is the size of a huge cow and I'm thinking, why don't I strap some bags on it's back. I couln't even name it for some reason so we didn't get to really bond. I wouldn't mind if my wolf carried some of my load. But since she's fighting with me, I would prefer to have some kind of alternate assistance. Allow us to domesticate, buy or raise our own pack animals, be they mule, llama, camel, warg or some other beast of burden.

As the ruler of a small kingdom, we could hire mercenaries or party members who are not serving the throne directly to guard them. Maybe have a few "Defend The Donkey" random encounters with an option to turn off "Defend The Donkey" in the difficulty menu.

even more amusing, the adventurers are willing to shell out 100 000s of gold for bags of holding that could be replicated by a donkey for 5gold.

"A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!"

Seems incredibly appropriate for a game about building kingdoms, but not having any horses.

Rather, there should be an option to tell your guards to fetch all loot from maps towards the capital. One idle companion + escorts should do the job.

Some of us enjoy having the additional pets. :steamhappy:

Animal companions contribute to the amount of weight you can carry.

Perhaps their graphic avatars could reflect that with saddlebags. That goes for party members also, where is everyones backpack?

Either way, it would be nice to have a pack mule to accompany the party.

The big issue is how nice your GM is. In PnP, donkeys get eaten by monsters... then you have to retrieve all your stuff from the monsters belly and still have to figure out a way to carry it all.

Or you could have a nice GM who assumes the pack animals are inviolate and noone or nothing bothers them. Ever.

In this game, we have harsh GMs/devs. I'm assuming if we brought donkeys along, we'd have to have them in the combat screen with us and we'd have to provide protection to keep them alive.

In other words... a PITA.

I'll just create some stronger mercs and replace Valerie/Harrim at the absolute minimum.

Pretty sure pet STR counts towards the total weight carried.

Just have a party with 3 fighters with 20 strength xd

But yes I agree completely. It would be an optional choice and it would help people that don't want to play with pets or have multiple Hercules fighters at the same time.

Alternative option. Not perfect, but really easy to implement:

Make "Donkey" an item you can buy that works exactly like Bags of Holding. Small Donkey might give -50lbs. Medium Donkey might give -100lbs. Large Donkey might give -200lbs.

Make them much cheaper than Bags of Holding, but scripted events can make you lose donkeys. Like a random event where the donkeys get sick and you have to pass a Lore (Nature) and (Religion) check, or one where a donkey wanders off and you have to save it from a monster and take a disadvantage, or let the monster eat it and then fight the monster with advantage, or walk away laughing at the poor donkey. Etc.

Lots of little text story opportunities with Donkeys.

Awesome idea... I'd love to have it. I'd prefer to have the bugs fixed and schlep it all around by myself first.

As for hiring mercs to protect them... that'd be great, but I'm already pouring 90% of my cash earnings into BP for the kingdom. I can't afford to take cash out to pay mercs for that.

Oh, definitely. The game cannot even be finished by a large chunk of the player base right now. Fixing the primary game is the most important thing. This is all just wishful thinking.

you have a magical bag. while yes a donkey would be nice it would also need protection (in reality i mean not game wise) from monsters and theives. so it makes 1000x more sense that the world would grow to wanting bags of holding over physical means of transport.

plus a donkey can hold about 20% of its body weight so ya 100 lbs even if it was 200 its less than a good bag of holding. only thing that may work is a cart and horse but your adventures is all that siting outside the dungon? or going up the mountain?

And a donkey costs all of like, 50g, if that. Compared to a 25,000 gold Bag of Holding.
