Arcane Bond vs Familiar (and another question)
Hey guys, would you consider arcane bond or familiars superior?

Also, I was considering getting the centipede for will saves (mine suck), does that will save bonus compete with other saves from items or is it additive to any will bonus that you can get?

arcane bond. familiars only help with skill checks like persausion. but arcane bond can replenish one spell. doesnt seem like much until you need one more haste or fireball. and unles youre a wisdom based character your will saves are going to suck comparitive to clerics and roles that specialize in saving throws. you can boost it up however you like but i would say build a balanced team that has eachothers back, have linzy boost your party with remove fear and inspire competence to give whoever the ganker is in your party enough time to rush through the front line and one shot enemy casters. ect ect...

Thanks. So 1 spell per day is superior to +2 on a saving throw. Thanks for the quick reply

If this were normal PF I'd go familiar as a monkey familiar could be equipped with weapons, rings armor and wands. But yeah definitely has to be bond in this game imo.

in actual pathfinder a familar is super useful as you can share spells with it, and use it in various unique ways. But in this game? it's pretty useless....

Personally loving my viper.
extra talky power is always appreciated.

I might make one exception -- a Viper familiar grants you +3 to Persuasion, and Persuasion checks are both frequent and can have some impressive rewards. (In one extreme case in Chapter 5, I got over 60,000 XP for succeeding at a DC 45 Bluff check). Obviously, not relevant in battle, but a constant, respectable boost to a vital skill is definitely something to consider.

Interesting. I'm more interested in combat ability, so the decision was between the bond, +2 to will saves (definitely my worst) and +1 AC. The AC was out due to the fact that its an unstackable natural armor bonus, that just left the will save and bond which seems to be an obvious choice from these responses.

The lizard is natural armor which doesn't stack with other sources of natural armor (I think). You would pick the hare over weapon bond?

Well at first it seemed fairly certain that AB is better, but then it seems like there are plenty who still like familiars. Just hoping to get a few more opinions before i make my decision.

Arcane Bond is always good, Familiars are situationally good

Thanks Creamy, I like it. I'm doing Last Azlanti mode so I'm being super cautious. Thanks, that made the decision very easy actually.

dont see any point in familiars. They all give perception, but why would you need it as wizard, the other bonuses are whatever. Being able to cast 1 more spell of any level is priceless.

Wait, are you doing a wizard or arcane bloodline sorcerer? Because the arcane bond does not function for sorcerers, just a heads up.
