Region Upgrades
So I've posted about this in the bug reports sub-forum but it appears region upgrades are either bugged or didn't make it into the game despite several projects interacting with them.

Looking at this forum I'm unable to find any reference to anyone locking these. Personally, I've made it to chapter 5 without seeing anything (and it seems like if they were working they would have made an appearance by now).

This is a shame as customising regions would be an appealing feature.

Can anyone shed any more light on this?

I just unlocked these after annexing six regions. However, some of them are not clear it they do anything at all and they all require you to be present to upgrade them so I haven't upgraded any yet.

They appeared in my game after the last patch. not immidedly, but after some days in one big bulk. One moment there is nothing, the next day you have like 16 region events. Some are really nice, like the 20% faster traveling, some claimed, they do nothing. I did them nevertheless.

So, at one point after this last patch I managed to get to a screen that showed each areas available upgrades in a few stacked bars that filled out as you discovered the upgrades, anyone know how to get back to that screen as I can't find it now for the life of me.

I have tons of them listed both under Projects and Regions. I haven't done any though as they block the player character for 2 weeks.

Nothing as far as I can tell. No real reason to pick those, except for roleplaying if you've made choices that have made other ones unavailable for the region.

By the way, the only one I ever managed to unlock for the capital was "It's a Magical Place". No idea what the requirements for the other two are.

Just unlocked a bunch of these and, wow, the documentation is almost non existent. There are options to tie up my character for a week and spend 200BP for what the project card claims is "no special effect."

Um yeah, can't wait to do that one.

I've suddenly unlocked many region upgrade project options.
Some of them, like "horse-breeding center" have a clear effect description. Others, like "royal hunting grounds," are a mystery.

There are also many region upgrades that seem to be unavailable, and you're only allowed to pick one. So I'm afraid to pick any without a guide.

So anyone have guidance?

Here's what I know so far:

Shrike Hills:

"It's a magical place." - +5 magister/high priest in region. +5 arcana/religion in kingdom.

Outskirts:

Varnhold:
"Bread and Circuses" - community and loyalty buildings also provide +1 to economy

I’d assume that if the card litterally states ‘no special effect’, it really has no special effect. (Eg hunting grounds)

I didn't get the Jewelry Center or Bronzeshield Fortress. ...maybe you did more artisan quests.

Here's couple more:

Guard Headquarters (Varnhold) - "Varnhold has suffered enough. Make safety this region's top priority. Effect: for any problem that could be resolved by the Warden in this or any adjacent region, roll 2 checks and pick best result."

Training Grounds (Glenebon) - "Training in the harsh hills of Glenebon could provide your troops with survival skills and endurance. Effect: this region's Military, Stability and Espionage scores increase by 2 for each other region with Military upgrades."

Currently it is hard to say, because the one and only kingdom project, that would make _all_ this possible and even those endgame DC checks doable (they are - but you have to ignore most other projects)
--> reduce upgrade time of your advisor down to 7 days (treasurer Rank 6)

edit: lol - exactly this is not working ^^

Imagine, you could train 4 advisor in a month and still have time to let them do any and every event & project?

I got "Jewelry Center" shortly after doing Mim's quest AND the storyteller telling me about a woman discovering a gem mine, building it into a glorious trade post and in the end losing everything to lepra. Maybe one of those triggers "Jewelry Center"?

Just did horse breeding ground, and also a few others, noticed they do not put any effect on even if said so.

I would say a lot of them are bugged atm and just each you BP and give nothing in return! Some of the earlier ones worked like defenders and poison one, but not many since.
