What exactly does negative level mean?
Couldn't find anything in the encyclopedia. Could someone please explain?

Also i raised several party members via raise dead scrolls and they don't seem to have any permanent condition like negative levels.

Basically if your level 8 character gets 2 negative levels then they'll be fighting and casting spells like they are level 6. Strong undead can often inflict this condition. Clerical death ward can protect you from it. Restoration (not lesser) cures it.

The raise dead scrolls mention negative levels but they don't seem to have implemented that, thankfully.

There are curses and necromatic spells that can cause you to lose levels. On easy modes you can lose the condition by rest otherwise you need Restoration/Remove Curse or similar to fix it.

In combat it is a way to cause someone to lose access to spells and abilities, even if temporary.

Exactly what it sounds like. You lose an effective level of experience.

Gods help you if your cleric suffers a permanent negative level, since Restoration is the only way to cure that!

There are also Temporary and Permanent negative levels. Temporary wear off after 24hours, permament need Restoration. You can check on the side of your portrait which one it is.

Except here you can use scrolls higher than your level. It's never a bad idea to carry at least one of these. In Baldur's Gate etc. you had to trek back to the healer...

Thank you for your answers.

I suppose it's not the difficulty level. Those are my chosen options:

I got permanent negative level on my full crew, by going to that verdarian or whatever its called place on the left of the map. Each one of them has 5-7 negative levels now.
My cleric can restore twice a day, not to mention it uses diamond dust 2 each.
So im going to need about 40-45 restores whic will take 22 days and ill need to buy 90 diamond dust to do it. And im kindda broke.
There must be an easier and cheaper way to do this?

There is at least one item that casts Restoration for free (no diamond dust) and can be used by anyone. It is called the circlet of Faith, and I am not sure how I got it, but I carry it in my inventory, and use it as needed. If your cleric is affected, use it on him first, of course.

Also, a single restoration clears all the negative levels.

So it is not THAT bad.

Unless those are permanent levels. I do not know, because I disarmed that trap.

If they ARE permanent levels, you're better off reloading and disarming the trap.

They are permanent. Im using restoration with my cleric, and at every cast he only removes 1 negative level. It took 5 casts to remove it completely from 1 character only so far.

Also didnt wanna reload cause i did 3 hours of progress since. that area is apparently for level 14ish and Im level 8 anyway.

Greater Restoration will clear them all in one go, that's why it's so much more expensive in terms of Diamond Dust.

It's the high levels that you start noticing the difference between full casters and the gishes as Inquisitors like Jaethal (and Call Of The Wild Warpriest Harrim) just will not cut the mustard anymore. Tristian is a fairly central character in this game for lots of reasons. If only they would allow his AI to spam his divine buff...

Can't you go to the clerics in your town, Jhod and the Asimaar one who's name I have forgotten, and get them to cure you of negative levels?

It's not something I have ever needed to do, but I am sure a loading screen tip said something along those lines.
