Crane style w/ Irori slayer vs. Paladin
Can someone explain why I can qualify for crane style by picking Irori as a diety as a deliverer and not when I pick Irori as a deity as a Paladin?

Even if you aren't playing as a Monk, you can still learn martial arts by satisfying various Feat and Ability Score prerequisites.

I made an unarmed Barbarian who used the Pummeling Style in combat. ;-)

Because you have a monk level or took dodge+improved unarmed strike on your slayer?

No monk levels at all. With slayer you can pick Irori and dodge at level 1 and qualify for crane style at level3 without any other classes. In my case I want to make a gish and I was trying to figure out a way to pick up crane style without dipping monk. I tested like so:

Aasimar: 18/14/14/10/8/16

Character 1:
level 1: Paladin Dodge/Deity: Irori
level 2: Sorc /extend spell
level 3: Sorc No crane style available.

Character 2:
level 1: Slayer deliverer Dodge/Deity: Iror
level 2: Sorc /extend spell
level 3: Sorc Crane style available.

Clerics get their gods weapon. Paladins do not. Irori's favored weapon is unarmed strike, the clerics get that as a bonus feat. Deliverers have that class feature too.

Paladin don't get imp. unarmed strike for free while Deliverer or cleric and etc. do by choosing Irori.

So from the look of it, paladin don't receive the weapon of his god. It might be a bug in many levels, but we will need someone with a master in Pathfinder rule 1.0 to answer that.

Paladins don't get their gods favored weapon proficiency and deliverer does.

Alright, thanks guys. Found it in the pathfinder rulebook:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

A deliverer gains proficiency with his deity’s favored weapon, in addition to the slayer’s normal weapon proficiencies.

This ability alters the slayer’s weapon and armor proficiency.

But why isn't something like this, which is fairly important to know in the games' descriptions already? It could just be a sentence on the Slayer or Deliverer's proficiencies feat.

Now that I think about it, an Unarmed Paladin sounds pretty hard core, actually.

It doesn't say anywhere on the paladin that they get free proficiency, so they don't.

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/paladin/
"Paladins are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields)." - nothing about favored weapon.

as opposed to

Yes, that's where I found it but I mean in the game itself, couldn't hurt having that description for slayer at least :p

Think it's there somewhere. At least I can bet it was. The UI is sorta like the game itself. It's easy once you know what should be there.
