Favorite Class Combinations!
In an effort to make the information more digestible in this game. I would love to hear some of the community’s class combos they regularly or have found to be their favorite. I love making characters in this game whether they be more role play focused or function focused. However, I’m not that good at min maxing or creative enough to think of all the wonderful class combinations that are possible. Would anyone like to share something awesome they found or something they are playing that they really enjoy?

This should be a fun discussion so lets try to keep it that way.

1 traditional monk/4 thug/15 inguisitor. Mostly for law/neutral alingment. Fists as weapon, aasimar with wis/agi bonus, thug levels may be replaced by Knife's Master for sai as weapon. Mostly because i like pass as many skillchecks as possible, and for main char perception and persuasion is more valuable, so with class bonuses, high wis and possibilities to take 2 skill perks early it nice options. Except this, it nice enough tanky char with some buff's and early merc alchemist with shield onto your party.

Scaled Fist/Sorcerer/DD..... You're a powerful monk able to caste mirror image, shield, haste, etc etc, while being able to shapeshift into a dragon.. Oh and you push strength levels of 25+.

High strength Sorcerer 6/Dragon Disciple4/Eldritch Knight 10 with a reach weapon. Level 9 arcane spells, reasonably high bonus to attack, a ton of buffing spells that make you very dangerous and nearly untouchable in combat.

Fighter/Bard/Dragon Disciple/Eldritch Knight. Can become an amazing tank, casting reasonable level bardic spells in full mirthril plate and with as big a shield as you care to carry.

I do not pick any of these for my main character, though. Valerie is perfect for either.

For my main, I choose the class depending on the alignment of the character I want to take to the end of the game.

Lawful Good Paladin, Lawful Evil Necromancer (Wizard), Chaotic Neutral Kineticist.... for my main character, I tend to stick to 'an unity of purpose'.

Yeah and its great too with the Winter cape which causes bite attacks to do 1d6 frost damage and automatic trip attempts.. At the end your bite in non dragon form does like 3d6 + 16 damage and does a trip.. And due to that, and your strength bonus.. Your attack rating is usually the best in the group..
Unarmed monk amulet works with your dragon form attacks... High cha means a ton of added AC, good persuasion checks..
The biggest problem with this was just microing dragon form due to how huge it is.. Fortunately I suspect turn based will make it a breeze and be even more powerful..
I wish I were still playing Pathfinder/DnD because this would be a awesome rp character to play as due to all the things dragon deciples get with flight.

Does anyone know a URL to any site that keeps a build compendium going?

Anyone familiar with Grim Dawn would know of Crates forums that have 99% of the builds gathered into 1 spot.

Before I try something this ridiculous, does anybody know how well a Barbarian + Sorcerer works in game?

I haven't tried it myself, and I play on normal difficulty, so I really have no idea how it would go on higher difficulty settings. As a plebeian, the biggest potential snags I see are 1) barbarians can't cast any spells while raging, and 2) sorcerer hit dice will counterbalance barbarian hit dice, making the character a lot less durable. Then there's the fact that armor causes arcane spell failure, so you'd probably want to start with mage armor and get bracers later on.

However, if you focused on taking buff spells and pre-buffing before rage, it seems like you might get something pretty cool. (A barbarian with mirror image! :-D) Either Dragon Disciple or Eldritch Knight might go with that combo, to make your character tougher while still getting spell level progression.

Again, I'm just speaking theoretically. I'm not great at formulating builds, so take that with however much salt you feel is appropriate. ;-)

Hmm, I was going to explain my reasoning behind this. But the more I think about it, it sounds like it would be a bad idea. Most of the Barbarian's utility comes while they are raging, and as you said, I wouldn't be able to cast spells during that time.

Though now, I want to try an unarmed Barbarian who uses either the Pummeling, or Dragon style of hand to hand combat. I like the idea of a Monk undergoing years of rigorous mental and spiritual discipline to learn these fighting styles, and then in comes a Barbarian who just roars like a mad man, before performing the same techniques!

Might be best to go Slayer/Sorcerer - Slayers get more feats that would be useful when going melee style sorcerer.
