Bring his Constitution down to 0
Starvation, thirst, suffocation
Negative level drain
Death effects
Disintegrate spell (secondary effect that kills the person turning it to ash)
Teleport him inside a wall
Anything that kills without doing hit point damage.
Could also restore ability damage, like the constitution and level drain.
And if they're using buff spells such as Bear's Endurance, you'd have to put in even more effort to reduce it to 0!
I found a D&D story on youtube, where the party uses a gate spell to drop a Tarrasque on top of Asmodeus.
The legions of Hell considered this to be a declaration of war, and tried to invade the mortal plane a year later. :D
Dispel solves this. There are still many ways to kill it. It just requires a little more effort.
Is THAT why he's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ powerful?
I can proudly say that I've managed to defeat him, myself. At least once or twice. :-)
There's also tons more defenses he can use to make it harder. Hell, RAW if you just dominate him/make him drink a bunch of protection from (current alignment) potions and his alignment changes, he loses all cleric abilities including his immunities. Super roundabout and pointless, but yeah.
The best way to become 'unkillable' is not through regeneration. It's just the basic lichdom because it's so absolute. You either break the phylactery or the lich comes back, there's no other way gimmick or loophole around it. Even a ghost's rejuvenation can be beaten by certain effects without the whole unfinished business.
Still hard to deal with, but it's a level 20 character of a powerful race. Of course it is.
All regenerating monsters that breathe can be killed by suffocation.
Dammit: Charon beat me to it :)
