Alignement Dilemma
Hey 😊

I've been reading the wiki for quite some time now and can't decide..

I want to play a Monster Tactician Inquisitor (summon monsters and stay back with a crossbow).
From a RP point of view, I would like to be Lawful :

Worshipper of Asmodeus, I'm basically trying to restore law and order and burn the corrupted and evil people (killers of innocents, thieves etc) in order to save mankind from the wrath of my god.
Which means I would put an arrow in someone's face if he broke a law but would try to save innocents in the hope they can be touched by my faith and work towards law and order themselves.

Basically all of this screams Lawful Good (punishing the wicked and protecting the innocent) but it seems a bit too good, because I won't just pick fights with bad guys, but also anyone chaotic not respecting laws/the greater good, be it good or evil.
That screams Lawful Evil.

So I'm torn between Lawful Good and Lawful Evil, the easiest thing to do would be choosing Lawful Neutral right?

BUT I want the big bad summons.
The wiki says you summon different things depending if you are evil or not. Does that mean neutral and good share the same summons? So if I want the dark summons I have to be Lawful Evil?

Also, there's a huge lack of Lawful companions, and none being Lawful Neutral or Lawful Evil, none who could possibly share my point of view on this world and/or accept to enforce law

Help?

Lawful Evil is the best alignment and, you probably get the best 2 starting buildings Stocks and Bulletin Board.

Just remember that your not always bound to always follow you alignment dialogue when given the option.

Thanks for your answer!

Well the thing is, I like Lawful Evil, it suits the character, but I don't want to be a huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ letting innocents die either. Not because I can't make those decisions fit the RP, but because I don't like making those decisions myself (haha)

Also, Valerie is a paladin right? How can you justify that she follows me if I'm evil? 😕

she isn't a paladin. she's a tower shield specialist. also, isn't she lawful neutral? fits pretty well i think.

Good point, so you're saying I won't get annoying comments from her 24/7 if I do something "evil" ?

you can balance it out, besides in this game it's not really an issue apart from her advisor role. it's more important for her to be lawful than to be good or evil, so if you keep that in mind she won't abandon you that easily.

Missed the edit 😛

Ok thanks so one more thing left to convince me ^^
Do you know about the summons? Do I have to be Evil to summon the bad guys or just not good?

Animal creatures summoned via Summon Monster spell have fiendish or celestial template depending on caster alignment now. <-- from the patch notes of the 1.1 patch, which is in beta right now.

absolutely not, she even condones live torture science on a Troll as it isn't considered a "humanoid". She is VERY lawful neutral :)

What does that mean? It's even more vague than the wiki 😛
What if I'm neutral?

I like her even more now 😁
Thanks!

summon monster as neutral spawns neutral animals like it did for every alignment before this change

Ok so I'm guessing the wiki was updated with this patch note in mind?
Or maybe I just checked the wiki for the PnP module 😂
Kreuz Nov 8, 2018 @ 3:37pm
When you use a summoning spell to summon a creature with an alignment or elemental subtype, it is a spell of that type. Creatures on Table: Summon Monster marked with an “*” are summoned with the celestial template, if you are good, and the fiendish template, if you are evil. If you are neutral, you may choose which template to apply to the creature. Creatures marked with an “*” always have an alignment that matches yours, regardless of their usual alignment. Summoning these creatures makes the summoning spell’s type match your alignment.

that's how it works in the PnP. i haven't played the beta so i can't say if you have the choice as a neutral character in this game, but i doubt it.

A Lawful Evil character isn't necessary a one-dimensional malicious arsshole. (They can be, but they don't HAVE to be.) A ruler who works tirelessly for the benefit of their people, but who often behaves as a ruthless tyrant "for the greater good", is solidly Lawful Evil.

This doesn't mean you will choose every Lawful Evil dialogue choice; some of them really ARE needless jerk moves. But a sufficiently ruthless pragmatist will very likely stay in Lawful Evil territory. If you do find yourself slipping toward neutral on either axis, and if it makes a difference to you for mechanical or symbolic reasons, you can always buy an atonement scroll and restore your original alignment.

And though others have already addressed your specific question about Valerie...she will get along fine with any Lawful ruler; she cares about consistency, not about right and wrong. (My Chaotic-Goodish bard, on the other hand, is driving poor Val to drink.)

lawful evil is great alighment for this game. And lawful overall OP for kingdom management.

Its only looks awful in quest deal with the devil, even if you asmodeus yourself those stupid knights will attack you.
