Missing whip and key in troll lair
So, I have 2 problems in the troll lair/dwarven ruins. I killed Hargulka and Tartuk but have not found the whip anywhere in the ruins. I've cleared everything out, except for a small room on the bottom level, in the bottom SE corner, that I cannot get into as it requires a key. I found several keys along the way but apparently not this one.

The whip would usually be on the body of a kobold near the troll kings "treasure heap" (mostly a big pile of garbage xD). When nearing the group of enemies there you can listen in on them talking about said whip.

But sadly there seems to be a bug where the whip just does not show up, had that happen myself, at that point reloading to a save before you kill those monsters will usually fix it.

To have quest for whip, you need event where Kesten or envoy tells you to check on wizard.
He gets attacked by ton of trolls and in the end of that event he asks to retrieve his whip.

About room... hm, i've opened all rooms, i think there could be a hidden key or smth in any case the only "secret" location is the riddle with moon and sun.

I just realized I never got the Guiding Beacon quest. There was no attack on Bartholomew by trolls as I went directly to the ruins after meeting him the first time, as I wanted to avoid the troll attack events on my populace. I'm guessing this is why the whip didn't spawn. I'm not sure I really want Bartholomew as an advisor, but I was looking forward to the interaction with Octavia....

Yea, its the case of "timed" quest. I also got it by coincedence. I was about to move into troll lair and got event in throne room. I think it happens roughly after months since troll event starts. Or maybe few weeks after you first visit wizards hut.

Anyway i only got 1 troll problem quest ( which was since whole troll event started ) and in roughly 2 months of this quest i havent got more. So your timer is not THAT tight.

While it's not gamebreaking, and I've already romanced Octavia, it kinda sucks that you miss out on an advisor because you finish a quest too quickly, particularly when you're prompted to complete it as quickly as possible by negative events.

You don't need to finish 'A Guiding Beacon' to get Bartholomew as and Advisor by the way. All you really need to do is to let him keep his 'test subject'.

Either Hargulka or Tartuk drops the key to open that door (whichever one of the two that you kill first).
