Several ways to make the fight easier: Poison his wine (earlier map where you find Kessle), convince others to help you (Kessle and her gang, another of of his commanders, caged owlbear), pick off 2 commanders in the NE corner of the map (so they won't join the fight, requires no alarm triggered). Also, it makes sense to go up and kill him fast, he will trigger OAs on every bowshot and you can block the area leading up with just one or two fighters. Also, being lvl 4 with a full party helps of course

Most important thing is to clear the rest of the compound bit by bit and pull as many of his allies onto your side as you can. I think you can get the Owlbear on your side too, but I couldn't figure that so I just killed it using the stelath option.

There are probably several ways to beat him and his remaining forces in the final showdown but the way I did it was:

I moved Linzi and Amiri over the the right, Amiri standing just at the top of the stairs to his platform. I opened with Octavia hitting the Stag Lord's adds with Web. Then Linzi hit Stag Lord with Hilarious Laughter whilst Amiri rushed round the corner and charged him. Linzi had a bout a 35% chance to land the Hilarious Laughter and I got it second attempt. Amiri got one hit in, a second AoO as SL was trying the get up, and then a third before SL was back in operation. Except he wan't becasue he was dead. Well he whined for his life first actually, but Amri was having none of it and issued the coup de grace. Amiri and Linzi then rejoined the other and helped out polishing off the remaining adds stuck in the web.

I just used hilarious laughter on him and he was out of the whole fight while I killed his henchmen. What level are you trying to take him on? I was level 4 and beat him easily

If you poison the wine, it is hardly a fight at all.

This, coupled with advice provided by Marcos_DS really tip the balance in your favor. Poison wine option (perception check, I think) is found at the bandit camp where Jhod is being held.

Get some and clear the outer bands!

Yeah poisoning the wine seems to drop his combat effectiveness massively. Still... getting his 2nd in command to join you can just about win the fight by itself. You can also get the owlbear but of the stag is shredding you, you will have to take care of the side mobs and position, maybe through sneaking, a character or two ready to quick rush his ramp and gett opportunity strikes. Laughter is a key spell early on for these kind of fights once you get a success.
Most times... i roll on a nill rested party and poison wine, get his 2nd, and get the owlbear to help and its still easy without summons.

Owlbear and 2 in command will just carry this for you lol.

I was almost shocked how easy the fight was. Scouting every minion-nest with invisble linzi, making sure noone can flee with hold person, clearing the entire camp so that nearly noone is left to help him.

Send the tank in and slap the bejeezus out of the "Lord". The owlbear was brilliant, almost strolling towards the supports of the Lord first and biting their heads off. :) Poisioning seems to roughly cut his hp by half and give him a nasty to hit debuff. Did not hit my tank once @ AC 31. Without poison, he hit him 2 or 3 times for a nice bit of damage.

The quest journal should say sonething like

"I should think up of ways to make the fight go in my favor"

To clue in people to make sure to search for ways to hinder stag lord.

Also, a reach weapon and enlarge will make you able to hit the stag lord in melee without having to go all the way around and up the ramp, you can wail on him from right in front. Maybe even just one or the other but I always do both.

he actually kills owlbear super fast on hard. I took him down when he started targeting owlbear and charged into him with amiri and jaethal to kill him with attacks of opportunities
