Perception Checks
This is specifically to do with secret rooms/chests etc and not traps.

Why is the perception check so high to find certain rooms/chests etc? Its just a very few select rooms or objects but on the whole so long as you have a reasonably high perception you will find pretty much everything.

You could of course come back at later levels when your perception has increased but what would be the point as we all know the junk we found two or three levels ago is nothing compared to that +whatever sword you just found in your last dungeon.

I've played different play throughs with different parties and one of them didn't have a perception expert maxed out but knowing what I've missed with that particular party I just don't see why the objects were so well hidden anyway?!?!

Has anyone found something that was hidden that was truly amazing?

you should spec at least 4-6 characters in your party to full perception, because each character makes a separate check. Its one of the only skills that get a separate check per character.

5 of my 6 party is fully maxed into perception and I never really miss anything.

Unless you know that there is a hidden item in the area that your party missed because of a failed perception check then why would you come back later?

also buff the hell out of perception on a wisdom character (normally a cleric), as it also lets you spot the hidden locations in the world, though that is not a 'check' and more 'does a character have at least X perception, if yes then location shows up'

Guys/Gals.......youre missing my point. Why did the developers bother to put treasure in that you could miss and that if you bother to come back for at a later level you wouldn't need?

They have gone to all that hard work creating something or creating an area and there is a good chance 50% of players will never see it........just seems a weird decision to me

because its optional and meant to reward perceptive characters and not random party? That's not skyrim with "big chest" in the end of the cave. And how did you conclude about 50% players? Players picking perception is probably most common occurance in any RPG, everyone want to find goodies.

1) To make different walkthroughs - different.

2) To reward min-maxing Perception.

There's no reason not to max Perception on every character if possible, so it feels like a non-choice.

I don't have the skill points for perception for evreyone, on the characters I've picked for my core party. That hasn't really been an issue for me yet though, because the two who are taking perception are spec'ed hard into it with Awareness, Persuasion and Skill Focus.
