why not try to shielded thug/fighter? Seems alot better in all aspects compared to a pure fighter.
So the only way to make up for all of that is to take advanatge of the fact that shields proc sneak attacks. Without sneak attacks DPS sword and shield fighter is worthless.
That's my point. You'll be a fighter with + shield AC and several wasted feats doing less damage than damage dealers while being less tanky than tanks (due to those missing feats).
I mean there is a route into shield attacks, but it's a long one.
Dex can stay at 10, focus on str, you still get the 2WF skill line maxed.
Low base damage of shields doesn't matter when most of it comes from your str modifier.
You get lead weapons and later aspect of the wolf+ other ranger goodies
+ All the party bonuses to hit and dmg from freebooter
I played exactly that. You're better off using weapon in the off hand.
Off hand weapons also only get 50% STR damage and unlike shields there's plenty of light weapons with 2d6 elemental damage and other bonuses.
Haven't seen a single offensive shield in the game. Which is what it boils down to, there's a lot of offensive shield use in PnP, shield spikes and the like. But I haven't found anything like that in the game... if it's there it's too late to be useful anyway.
Not sure but it should work with Str, but I think you couldn't finesse with double slice
Yeah, the build i am thinking about is STR based with just enough DEX to get the TWF feats. And i won't be taking the greater one, so if i am not wrong i will only need 17 DEX end game
I thought about doing a quite similar build but I'd want to give it at least medium armor because its STR based and I wasnt sure if I could make use of the dex bonus to AC.
But you should keep in mind that you are either kinda squishy because of 'low" CON or lack STR for attacks.
Or do you completely dump Int, Cha, Wis? What would be your stats after creation?
18 STR
15 DEX (+ 1 lvl 4, +1 lvl 8)
14 CON (+1 lvl 12, +1 lvl 16)
12 INT
10 WIS
11 CHA (+1 lvl 20)
CHA is basically because of the game setting....I generally always want to be decently social, since i am gonna be a king. (Although the crown will then give a +6 CHA, so i just might drop it to 10 and go WIS 11 instead).
This setup is for starting up with TWF, but i am also considering not to, drop DEX to 13 and up CON and only get TWF at level 8, after 2 stat boosts. This is because CON 14 is kinda lowish, so i will have low hp (although i could just sacrifice a feat and get toughness to balance things up). But then i think i would be suboptimal, unless i will use a two handed weapon to get there.
I Could also go STR 17 and DEX 16, to be able to get improved TWF at level 4 and be done with that.
