So, shall I release the troll or let Bart continue wioth his experiments? I told Bart to release him, but now he is acting vold towards me, but worried Octavia will freak out if I say continue with experiments.

Depending on your choice - after troll trouble he is either a potential advisor or stays grumpy in the house. Given his evil nature and all the blood in the cellar..the choices are obvious....

Yup, I took him and screwed Octavia. Literally. And still do.

yes. Taking him as advisor. Best character so far, exactly what i needed in my barony.

I'd question how qualified he is to be Grand Diplomat though.

I really disliked something that comes up later: (spoiler inc obviously)

During the operation on the woman to remove her seed, you can ask bartholomew to drop by and the game then tells you "the mad sadistic mage bartholomew is here for some reason" <thats literally what it says.
But the guy really doesnt seem mad or sadistic. Hes the average scientist with a vision. Being evil - okay maybe, but mad and sadistic? ♥♥♥♥ no. Hes researching troll regeneration for medical purposes which makes perfect sense.

Anyway, ♥♥♥♥ yea bartholomew!

you can recruit him after side with octavia no worries. just go to his laboratory and try to convince him, lots of options available.

I ended picking the chaotic neutral option and told him to kill the troll.
I would have no issue supplying him with a new troll, one that has personally pissed me off, but some random troll i have nothing against, no.

Then when doing his quest, i tried to get him to work for me and could not, so i said to his face i would keep the whip (it is a nice whip, the dialogue insists), and killed him.

Pity, really, i was very interested in his research, but disliked his method of just buying a random troll to torture.
But could not find a way to handle the situation in a manner satisfactory for me, i'll just pretend my character will restart the research using Barts notes after all this kingdom mess is dealt with.

Indeed. His ending slide also suggests as such and is kinda creepy - tortures and mad experiments on a grander scale. After learning all that I stopped bringing him to the court and trolls will still get their revenge in the last chapter. But evil kingdoms should go ahead, as he's lawful evil.
