Would it be possible to do a D:OS Lone Wolf style playthrough?
Title. Would it be possible to achieve a similar feel with the right difficulty settings?

Seems unlikely. The game is CRAZY hard (to the point of being broken) I wouldn't recommend trying to solo it.

DOS has a party of 4, and going lone-wolf gives you bonuses.
This game has a party of 6, and going solo gives you nothing.

That said, if you tweak some of the settings, you can get XP rewards higher based upon party size, I believe.

You would probably be able to do it, as there are quite a few difficulty options, but I don't imagine it would be a fun experience.

You try it if you choose to and let us know. The devs have said - sure you can - just keep in mind the combat difficulty is reflective of a full party. You may gain exp faster - but from what i can tell - it will not be enough to compensate for the CR of enemies and enemy groups.

On normal, no necause its balanced towards a party. Maybe if you use the custom settings to lower mob attributes, lower damage you receive, turn off crits.

And its not broken just people don't understand how to use the custom difficulty sliders.

Not in the current state as the game is insanely difficult even on normal difficulty

no it isn't

I was thinking about messing around with the difficulty, but I haven't really played the game much and there is still so much to learn. I might try it eventually but it will probably be a while. Just wanted to ask if anyone else had had the same thought. :lifehope:

I doubt it very much. There's just too much coming at you at once in most cases. You'd have to be absurdly overlevelled for every fight, with top gear equipment I guess. I thought about it too because I don't like having to control six people at once, most of the time.

I can't see it working with the rest mechanic either. On one hand, only 1 ration would be required. On the other, you'd have to decide what you did all night such as cooking or guarding, or hunting if you didn't bring a ration. Plus, your carry capacity would be comparable to that of excrement.

You'd also need to consider that you'll be fairly weak with your covered skills. You might not be able to detect anything, or disarm traps or pick locks. You'd really have to know what you were doing and have a high survivability and independant build in mind too.

Just can't see it working out. You'd have prime pick of the potions, scrolls and gear, but that's not going to be enough when there's a troll focusing down on you for 30 damage hits lol.

I had hoped to only use a smattering of companions (3 or so) but I soon started getting overwhelmed and had to accept that six are pretty much required. I played through Divinity: Original Sin 2 as a solo Lone Wolf on Tactician difficulty, and compared to this game that was a walk in the park. Shame, cause I do like Lone Wolf type stuff.

I bet even with a character with 50 in each Attritube with enough Intelligence to put a point in each skill each level up to keep up with the cap, you'd still struggle on your own. Doesn't seem feasible.

Yea I preferred Lone Wolf in D:OS2 too, that's why I wanted to know if it was viable here. For the carry weight you could just disable the encumbrance, I suppose, but the other issues aren't remedied as easily. I'll just have to get better at managing my party :P

Thank you everyone for your answers, much appreciated! :lifehope:
