How to you get past the three assassins in the library?
I've tried for a couple of hours various things to fight them but obviously they are far too strong to defeat in combat.

But I can't find the way round them. How?

Really? I killed them pretty easilly with no real tactics other than run in and hit them.

What class are you playing and what difficulty? I was playing a Freebooter (ranger) on normal difficulty. I ran in and stabbed them while the other two shot. I had the sorcerer toss a single magic missile during the fight, mostly to test the system.

Focus fire is your friend. If you are a melee fighter, use the charge action against the one closest to you before moving into the room and agrooing them. Have linzi and Tarctuccio use their crossbows against that individual as well. He should go down, and then your melee character will be right up against two bow users who will likely provoke oppourtuinity attacks.

What is your class and stats?

Playing un unfair, I'm a mage and I got Linsi and the other small guy.

Problem is the melee rogue hits for either 24 or 36 and almost always connects and the archers hit for 12-20 usually and they also rarely miss. So I'm just getting one-shotted after two rounds max. I can save scum a crit but the archers are just too strong, They always either one-shot me and one of the others or both the others straight away.

I was thinking their must be a way round this, a secret door or something. I actually have the spells to contain them, sleep and such, but they weren't loaded into slots at game start.

That being said, unless you're playing a max con barbarian. I don't think it's possible right now to get past the tutorial on Unfair difficulty without sneaking around all the encounters. It's kinda a nightmare how much damage the assassins put out.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "the bottom of the library?

BTW, cheers mate, I thought it might be just me :steamhappy:

Crossbows work fine against them.
Gregorovitch Sep 25, 2018 @ 1:33pm
No they don't. You don't get a chance for them to work, You just get 1-shotted by them. They have autiomatic repeating sneak attack for +5 damage and +11 To Hit so they almost never miss and do minimum of 12-14 damage per shot often 20 or 24 per shot. The melee one does either 24 or 36 damage per attack usually,

Don't focus fire enemies in melee if you don't have precise and point blank shot. Shoot at characters not engaged in melee
wait till you get to the first random encounter, those wolves basically one or two shot your melee companions.

Game isn't well build with that crazy overpower enemies level but it's called unfair, on otherhand, I wonder what point playing unfair level? Seem people pick unfair asking for not to win the game, and want to get game lost with best ability they offer.

I also don't think it is beatable on unfair difficulty setting. They have +9 attack bonus, hence almost never miss. And they will one-shot any character they hit.

Activate the skill "Fight Defensively".

Play at a lower difficulty setting if you are unable to beat them on the difficulty you have selected. The game is balanced for normal difficulty. If you ar eplaying at the highest difficulty you should not be suprised that the fight is almost impossible.

Maybe you're playing on the higest difficulty but otherwise use the small guy as a meatshield and focus fire. You can heal with the little female and you also have potions.

It might also work on max dif but I haven't played on that setting.

Then you never hit them because they have 18 AC on unfair difficulty.

How about if everyone who has never tried it on unfair try it before they open their mouth.
If anyone does beat it on unfair, please do post a screen shot of them dead on the ground and the tooltip for an enemy attack in the combat log showing.

If the devs put in a difficulty setting that cannot be beat, in the 3rd intro fight, then they have failed in their design.
