Looking for name suggestions for towns.
Ok so I'm trying to name my towns and while I've got some and ideas for others there are a few that are just leaving me stumped so I figured as I'm posting a lot right now I may as well ask for suggestions. Here's what I have picked out . . .

Shrike Hills
Kyoto (Imperial Capital): I was looking for something to name my capital that said "Imperial Capital" in a city sounding name and Kyoto means that.

South Narlmarches
Murqford: This was a nice easy one as its on a river (ford) named Murque and in the marshes so Murqford.

Dunsward
Dunwich: I know elder horrors out to drive you mad but how could I resist and hey the imperial treasury has a few elder signs for when something breaks out.

Silverstep
Silverwater: I like the idea of silver related name as I'm planing to go for jewelry center and if I put it on lake silverstep this should work on several levels. It's a shame I can't build over Lake Silverstep village. However for now I'm thinking either the node on the water that leads across to Silverstep or up the river just at the base of the mountains there for placement.

These two are in negotiation over which one gets named Northampton and the other something else . . .

North Narlmarches
Could be Northampton as its a town in the NORTH Narlmarshes but that's about all to recommend this name here though it does work well. Depending on if I place it on the River Sellon rather than Skunk it could be named Westford as the westernmost ford. Otherwise and prefarably I'm looking for something to do with Erastil or religion as I'm aiming to get the holy gorund region upgrade for this region.

Outskirts
Northampton: This works on several levels as its the north most town (barring the pre located Glenebon and Varnhold which I beleive are still south of it), the actual Northampton was a market town and this one is being set up as the trade centre of my emprie. Otherwise I'll be trying to come up with something tradey anyway so this is my preference really and find something else for the northern narlmarsh.

These ones I know what I want to include but haven't figured out how.

Tors of Levenies
Iron ? or Military sounding name (something Ceister): I like the idea of iron mines in the mountains and military bases so I'm looking for something on those lines. Newcastle is a possibility.

Kamelands
Something cultural or natural sounding: I'm trying for the national treasure region upgrade to reflect beautiful vistas and tourist destinations to relax and unwind in nature. Though a part of me is thinking if I put it right at the bottom on the river ford or along the little Sellon I could go with Southampton to match naming the Outskirts Northhampton. Giving me a northern most city named Northhampton and a southernmost named Southampton.

These I'm pretty sure will already have a named settlement.

Varnhold
Varnhold (Already named and seen).
Glenebon
?
Pitax
?

Finally I've no idea what to name the settlement in . . .

Dire Narlmarches:
?

Any help appreciated.

Wow, this is a really long thread for just asking for help on names...

The man cares about his naming convention. I think Come Honor fits perfectly

I guess.

I put thought into these things and try to make the choices I would if I were actually the character, same way I build the city based on what I think would go there rather than mechanical benefits. Plus what's the harm in giving people more information to act on.

I can't help but feel there's a reference or pun here I'm missing. Also is this a general name suggestion or aimed at a specific region?

I like to name the town that Bokken works at "Bokkenville" ;)

Sadly, you can not name your capital (which is bull crap). It is always named Tuskdale, regardless of what you want.

You ever wondered, what the feather icon next to the town name is good for? :P (when selecting the town in the management screen)
You need to re-open the management thereafter, so the name gets properly updated on the map as well.

Mine are usually named after (in-)famous German medieval counter- & toll castles or villages, that just fit their location or were known for witchery.

You can name your capital. Just click on the feather next to the name.

My capital in my current playthrough is named 'Swashbuckler Bay.' All the other towns have pirate themed names. My first playthrough my barony was named 'Morgenstern.' It and all my other towns were Princess Bride references.

Hmmm Bokkenville interesting.

Like I said I named my capital Kyoto.

I'm thinking "Northampton" for the one in the outskirts where Bokken works, "Sutehrland" for the Kamelands either "Westminster" or "Sellonford" for the one in the Narlmarshes currently.

Well, the Outskirt is up on the map so I usually call it Upskirt.

In my current playthrough I am calling everything by villages from around my childhood summer house: Lambton, Stornoway, Thetford Mines, East Angus, Lingwick and Ascot Corner to name a few.

For Tors of Levenies, the name Overlook would be good. One upgrade is to create a mountain resort (like in The Shining).

When we played the tabletop version of the Kingmaker adventure path a long time ago our first town was built around Oleg's trading post and we called it Olegstadt. When we set up our capital in the center we called it Winter's Gate because it was intended to be the gateway to the North. We eventually set up signal beacons between the towns like those between Gondor and Rohan in Lord of the Rings but they became less important once we could teleport.

So an updated listing of where I'm going though obviously this may change depending on waht my ingame choices allow . . .

Shrike Hills
Kyoto, City, Either Diamond in the rough or magical mystery region upgrade to be aimed for (both appeal to me).

Outskirts
Northampton (though all the Oleg names appeal to me and I could nab that Olegstadt depending on what the german Stadt actually means), Town (main trade centre), Trade Centre.

South Narlmarches
Murqford. Village, Bronzeshield Fortress Upgrade for road of shields.

North Narlmarches
Currently leaning towards Sellonford or Westminster though if I go with Olegstatd Northampton is back in the running, Town (as its a carpenter and leatherworker), Erastil's Holy place.

Kamelands
Sutherland, village, national treasure upgrade.

Silverstep
Silverwater, town (its a jewelry maker), jewelry centre

Dunsward
Dunwich, village, belly of the dunlands.

Tors of Levenies
now looking for something touristy in the mountains possibly Nagano, village, resort upgrade.

Varnhold
Varnhold, town, bread and circuses upgrade.

Glenebon
?, ?, Training Ground upgrade.

Pitax
Pitax, City, Arts upgrade.

Dire Narlmarches:
Newcastle, village, Silvershield upgrade.

Hmmm interesting though I've already got my horror reference that resort is something I'm looking at currently and Overlook does work though its more a hotel than a town in my head.

If only options like that were in the game rather than being cost prohibitive to implement.
