How's the new DLC dungeon?
Is it truly endless or there a max number of floors?
Is it better than Neverwinter night Endless dungeon?

It's better than NWN Infinite Dungeon so far, in that the encounters seem to be themed better and it's not nearly as Monty Haul with the loot...and of course it's far more graphically appealing.

My only complaint at the moment is the lack of easy ways out of the dungeon, but I might be missing something or just not have reached the level with stairs back up yet. Spoiled by town portal scrolls and the not-so-Endless Paths of Od Nua having handy access stairways every few levels. :P

If you want your character from the main game to gain benefits from it, do you have to start a main campaign story, or can you start on Beneath the Stolen Lands and import your character over?

there's a town portal (well to the starting area way up top) on EVERY level start ;)

I don't understand. You can simply take the stairs at the lvl start and you are back to town. If you re-enter the dungeon you go back exaclty in the last lvl you went. No need to shortcuts or portals ecc

ROFL Well, now I feel stupid. Figured I had just missed something, though. I just assumed the stairs you came down would take you to the level you just left. That does bring up a different question, though...how do you get back to the weird "portal of evil that you can't get through yet" if you've already passed that level? Does it reappear at later levels?

Unplayable, thanks for asking!

It says that the stuff you unlock in the Honest Guy store from completing levels stays across playthroughs, but other than that it looks like you'd need to start the main campaign and wait until you get your invitation from the dragon if you want to use your main from the story.

I've only had about 4 hours fiddling with a Beneath the Stolen Lands dungeon party playthrough, so as with the stairs back up, I might have missed something. :P

Pretty solid until you get absolutely raped by a surprise party, lulled into a sense of security by the rest of the dungeon. Absolutely nasty. I hate how this game does this in numerous places.

but that's where the fun is, you get lulled into complacency, and then BAM! surprise now you have to actually try in order to win.

It's interesting how they handled it rather than hand make each level its randomly generated by tile. Randomly placed containers, mobs seem to ramp up slowly until you hit a lots of swearing moment. Yes you Giant spider with a nixie and mite supporting it. Against 4 basic equipped level 2's. Fighter was swearing often.

The portals I'm assuming those red glowing things are can be a FU to you. Since they have randomized Arcana checks to activate. First one was 18 req failed, second was 13 req failed, 3rd was also a fail..... game loves rolling low. Did get a nice mithril Chaimail +1 but game stupidly still treats it as medium armor. And a few minor magic items.

(gog version)

Loot pretty bad

I am level 12, working on level 13 in this 2nd playthrough, have finished the game once. Most of the players going through, I imagine, are much lower level than I am, and the slap in the face frustration of this roadblock will kill any momentum they had going forward, especially if they just want to try out the new DLC.

There should have been a gradual increase in the level of difficulty in the dungeon. I know enough to turn back and try at later levels (not persist forward as you recommend). But it grinds my advancement in the dungeon to a halt. I have advanced far enough in the game to have other options to know what my next step should be and will follow the natural and tested progression of the game (off to Flintrock Grassland to follow Amiri's quest and then back to Candlemere Tower).

Look at the complaints about spider swarms, overwhelming bandit hordes, the surprise attack in the Old Sycamore camp, the wererats, etc. And still the devs insist on pulling this stunt. It's frustrating and to be honest, not fun at all.

Nope, it can be done entirely standalone. It's all fun and game there, until you open a door onto a handful of huge/giant/elder elementals with a corrupted (the ones that spawn every 5ish levels post 10) mob in the mix >.>

I would recommend it "Hyena", unless you can come up with some devious or brilliant way to bypass it. That's not the roadblock I am talking about, Miss Anthropy. A level 12 party can bypass that encounter with little problem, it's the Fiery, Unholy Arrow Archers I am talking about.
