last time a played this game which was several years ago i was able to play a female version of noctis kinda like what is displayed in the comrades version. now on my old save with that character and any new game i can no longer opt for a female version. was there an update to remove that is there any way to get that back ???

That was a mod. Not entirely sure how you wouldn't know that, seeing as the only time character "creation" has been a thing in FF, is the two MMOs.

Yes they removed the comrades character skin for Noctis. There is a mod that adds it back in

Not entirely true, there was a feature to replace Noctis with the custom character from Comrades but it was removed

Yeah, they added this feature called Avatara into the main game for a while. It let you port Comrades chr. creation into the main game and had other things like some sort of online screenshot sharing/rating for points or something, I forget. Comrades Steam Mods also worked in the main game at this time (they won't now). The online aspect caused many players some performance grief tho.

They eventually removed that feature for whatever reasons so your save has reverted to default Noctis again.

So you'd have to either downgrade the steam db method and play the old, not-current version of the game or something like that, or use a mod - which possibly may largely do the same thing. Not sure.
