For anyone who wants Avatara back, just without all the stuttering, here are the necessary files to add it back to the game.

So far people report that it runs smoothly even though Avatara is back, which seems logically, if all the stuttering was connected with the online stuff, since that is and will be gone for good. ^^

As usual, backup your files before you replace anything and have fun. :)

Perhaps your virus scanner is overly panicky. I'm uploading the archive to Virus Total to see what it says about the package.

unfortunately for me the combat stutters return after installing the offline avatara features so for some might not be a good idea, the stuttering was completely removed after the recent update. if anyone wants to test, try fighting the red giant where I noticed the combat stutters again.

Incase anyone asks what my specs are, running the game on a gtx1080ti, i7 7820x, 64gb ram 3000mhz and on a 970 evo pro nvme.

It didn't work I tried running it but chrome wasn't able to scan it , can you show us the steps you took to install it and what place it is supposed to be installed please.

Just copy and paste the files in the root directory of your Final Fantasy XV folder in steamapps, try using firefox to download it if you're having problems with chrome but chrome worked fine for me.

Avatara was such a weird and pointless feature to begin with, but even I have to admit that it had its value. But I honestly don't understand why they would remove it entirely instead of making some of its aspects available offline, such as the ability to change Noctis's appearance.

They could also just give us all the cosmetics cuz it's not like they were making any money from them, so why the hell not?

A pointless feature get added, has some interesting bits to it that actually make it enjoyable, but then they remove it entirely for no reason other than being lazy. Just when I thought FFXV couldn't make me roll my eyes any longer, they pull this one off.

Sorry to hear that you still seem to have some stuttering issues.
I've never had any issues with the game, other than it crashing due to exessive magic use back when it was just released, or those 1 sec loading screens every once in a while when driving the car from one end of the map to another.

Although I assume that with your specs you're playing in full 4k? ^^
I've got a i7 7700k, a gtx1080ti and 16GB of ram, game's running on a standard HDD even, I'm using the 4k assets, because it's more detailed than without it, but I'm playing at 1920x1080 only. No space for a huger screen :S
So maybe that explains why I never had any problem or significant frame drops. I don't know. ^^"

Anyway, sorry to hear that. Whatever is up with this game, it seems to be picky who to bother. :/

Do these files mess up the ability to jump into Comrades co-op?

I've actually purposely been blocking the new update and I wanna make sure I can keep accessing my saved Auto & Manual photos, as well as at least access my Avatara offline before I even think of unblocking the changes..... how's this all work?

First of all, these files have nothing to do with your saved photos and savegames, as they are stored elsewhere.As well as your saved avatars are stored with your savegames and have nothing to do with these files. Unless you haven't started the updated version yet, and it doesn't remove your stored avatars from your savegames (which I don't know since I never started the updated version. :D) everything should be in place.

Second, online features and servers for the main game are offline, Comrades does use other servers. Unless those servers are not doing a version check on your client, you should be able to connect. I haven't tired it, since I purposely disconnect from the server first thing after starting Comrades. ^^" On top of that, the patchnotes said something about changes that were made to matchmaking. No idea what tht means. I don't even want to know, since matchmaking had always been a pain in the butt, even trying to connect with 3 firends had been more of a lucky ride.
Cross plattform matchmaking is also done, so no more Multiplayer with Windows or Origin Users anyway.

Either you find 2 people who can check out connectivity for Comrades, or you do what everyone should do before replacing any files: Back them up, just in case, then try for yourself. :)

You can just as well copy the whole game folder before Steam updates it, then update the game and just switch those folders, but that takes ages and diskspace. ^^

I know the game has been out forever, but I found it hard to get into and enjoy.

I just recently gave it another shot and Avatara was the only thing saving it for me. Imagine my surprise to see it get nuked. Super bad timing on my part.

Latest patch fixed a lot of stuttering and lag issues in Comrades. Does this downgrade patch allow you to play Comrades like before but without the issues it had?
