I'm so happy, I'm so happy. FFXV is dead.
You see I like Final Fantasy, have done for the better part of 20 years (barring XII, mind you). It's a TB JRPG franchise, with some great stories and characters and I find it really fun, but you see there is a problem.

There may be a subset of people who like TB gaming who also like erratic twitch action gameplay (with a bad camera) but that is certainly not a given and I do not fall in to that subset so when Squeex finally released XV after about a decade of blowing smoke up our bums and it turned out to be what it was, a pretty, superficial hack and slash monstrosity more about posing style, cooking and taking photographs rather than a spraulling story with an entertaining and ponderous battle system (from the franchises point of view) one could take their time with, I was suitably upset, and imagine my face when this complete betrayal of the the franchise and it's audience sold more because it was bringing in a different player with a different need in their gaming... I was saddened.

Further disenchantment ensued when FFXV was all Squeex could talk about and seemed to be the only direction this once lofty franchise was headed to the future with.

NOW, fast forwards to this morning when I got the miraculous news that, despite all the recent stories and articles from Squeex stating FFXV will never die, FFXV is dead, the customers who bought it have been sidelined and letdown by the retraction of further expected gameplay and Sqeex have got a hole in their pocket... I am dancing. My day has truly been made and it's only just started.

So I say this directly to Squeex..... Ha, bloody, ha! Serves you right and you can shove your FFVII reimagining abomination also. I hope the hole in your pocket gets bigger.

Between your crap new FF games and your crap new Deus Ex (and it REALLY IS crap) you really are hammering nails in to your own coffin.

Whomp, Whomp.

Don't worry, soon or late you'll get your new Final Fantasy game with the same mechanics as the older ones where it was just a matter of Attack -> Attack -> Magic -> Potion -> Repeat the loop.

I hope so because it's the depth of the system that one has to become familiar with that gives the above, superficially accessable sequence of combat so much fun... and who the heck uses potions in an FF game?

Actually in reality I don't really care about Squeex and their products now, because if they do return to their previous formula I'm certainly not going to be stupid enough to support them, just because they've decided to re-cater to the market that allowed the FF name to get so big that Squeex felt they had the ability to sideline their long time supporters in favour of an audience that had hitherto ignored them in the first place.

You're right! Those games are so bland and easy I never even needed to use potions regularly :glitch:

Opinions are wonderful, that's exactly how I feel about XV.

I feel like that about both styles anyway, the difference being that FFXV is more of a "Chill game" to me that I open once every 3 months to relax for a bit. FF as a whole is boring AF and easy, I wish we had FF Tactics on Steam though.

Man I am curious as to what happened. I kind fo like XV. I started on XII myself, so I don't really feel for all the older games as much as others do. Honestly, it is kind of sad from an industry point of view. They may have stopped it due to them retiring the engine.
Imagine my disappointment when Lightning Returns costume switching is more complex in combat than even the final boss fight in FFXV.

Whoa-ho! Dangerously edgy up in here-- you should put up a sign or something, to warn people to be careful they don't knick themselves.

The Multiplayer may be Dead but the Amount of Players that still play Single player is high. I love this game as well as all the ones in the franchise including 13. I don't See why So Many Hate on these Games. Because honestly i love every single one of them myself even the MMO ones.

As a hardcore shin megami tensei player a game with hardcore turn based combats that only work there i consider ffxv mechanics very fun and relaxing, i understand why they try new things, turn based combats are dying, and only works in games like the one i mentioned (AND dragon quest games), because like people is discussing here you bare use potions or any healing in turn based combat, meanwhile in games like smt or dq, potions are important, buff and debuff, etc turn based combat is well done (specially in persona games is even fun), ff lacks of that, if they do the combats like the games mentioned they will become just rip off of their own franchises or other game franchises and will taint ff name even more.

Yes, the worst FF ever made. It's not even a real FF or JRPG.

Good riddance.

They should've fired Tetsuya Nomura as well.

@Monterossa
Watch out, you're bringing the heat with that argument about Tetsuya Nomura.
Then again, you're the same person who likes to bring up FFXV in every review.

older FF games have no skill lmao Turn based games are really poorly designed on a cocept of breaking them, Just watch any FF speedrun and look how absurdly stupid the game really is, FF7 - Cait sith slots win GG, ff8 Spam limit break - GG, FF9 Stiener Charge with all melee MP attack, GG, FFX Rikku Mix trio, Throw fire gem. They have no real depth and skill, You are all blinded by nostalgia and stupidit of being "BAD" at video games. FF13 is probably the most indepth skillful speedun out of them all but its ignored by the fact casualls hate the game LMAO. If you have to make a challenge run to make the game require more "DEPTH or Thought then you can literally do that with any game in the world and the turn based games are still on the bottom of the pile.
Also the more RNG the game has to rely on over your own skill the worse of a mechanic and system it is, Random encounters were a huge mistake

FF was what got me into SMT, it made me search more TB gaming out... and I'll BET that you're not as hardcore about SMT than me, heh. :) :P

..Speaking of SMT, did you read the comments the devs said about the new one for the switch? (paraphrasing) it'll have the accesability of the 3ds games and "the charm" of Nocturne.

That statement alone proves none of the devs have a clue about the SMT series. There are MANY, MANY words I could use to describe Nocturne, awe-inspiring, philisophical, ponderous, grotesque being but a few.. but 'charming'......DA FUQ, MAN?
