Xbox 1 controller icons

I'm using a xbox 1 controller and was wondering if there was suppose to be any specific icons for button input (as in "A" showing up instead of the four buttons with the bottom one filled in)

I had this problem when I first fired up the demo and found that I could consistently get the correct prompts by plugging the controller in BEFORE I launched the game. If I plug it in after I get those generic prompts.

This has worked consistently for me with both my Xbox One and PS4 controllers.

me with my x360 controller sometime i to restart 2-3 time the game before the good icon...
I hope someone will make a mod to replace the generic icon

Have any of you enabled Xbox Controller Support in Steam -> View -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings ? Because I wouldn't be surprised if that's causing it. I'm using a couple of different Xbox One controllers myself and have never had this issue.

I have this issue as well, no other game does anything similar. I had to disable geforce overlay, but now its back to that, so I'm gonna try enabling it and disabling it and see if that helps.

restart game worked to put controller icon in game. maybe try this?

Yup - turn on/connect your controller before starting game. Steams' controller options can be left alone.

Nice to see this confirmed. I usually launch the game with my keyboard, then pick up and turn on my controller while it loads.

SO much nicer and cleaner seeing just a single icon, rather than a blue-coloured generic button area.

I can also confirm turning on the controller before even launching the game usually results in the correct button icons being displayed

same here with that behaviour. plugging in my PS4 controller before i start the game gives me PS prompts. plugging in while in the main menu gives me generic prompts.

this happens the same with my XBOX 360 controller, but surely i get the XBOX prompts then ^^.
