What kind of name is 'Noctis', anyway?
Seriously.

It's latin. It's related to night.

Adjective

(in prescriptions) of the night.

Nomura acting edgy as always :dealwithit:
So Noctis is nocturnal? xD

They want to make Sasuke 2.0, with all the edge and emo mix with a pinch of gay.

In fact... much of the worlds naming scheme is based on latin Tenbrae means darkness for example.

Dunno quite what rock you've been sleeping under but a LOT of games do this. They simply translate words into different languages and may or may not modify them and then put them as names.

I mean, the same can be said for every final fantasy main characters name in my opinion. Who the hell named their kid Squall or Lightning? I think Noctis is one of the better ones personally, up there with Cecil.

I didn't realize it was latin for Night, I actually like that even more now.

Good luck finding a wife that will let you, mine wouldn't let me name my kid Kal El, sadly.

Thank you, TeaEarlGreyHot. I can't believe yours wouldn't let you name your kid Kal El. Perhaps you should have gone with something more traditional, like Darjeeling or Maghrebi Mint.
Gladiolus,

To be fair Lightning in a nickname not her real name...isn't it? I think her name is Claire? Her parents wern't crazy lol.

I love latin names Like Noctis..

In real life you see weirder ones... like Apple (still my favorite) and the parents that named their kid Dovahkiin to win the Bethesda comp. Not sure if that will make him a legend at school or get him beat up.

Honestly not that bad, there are parents who call their kids "Katie" Spelled "KVIIIe" So Noctis is a positively normal name in comparison
