My guess? THis is an old build, likely the same build as the benchmark, which also didn't have VXAO. If you check the Acension menu it is lacking a lot of things that were added in the Crown Update (the Day 1 patch on Console). That means this isn't the Release Build.

VXAO is only available in DX11, the game might use DX12 for you that's why it wouldn't be available. I didn't see an option to choose DX but I read that it uses this, might have defaulted to this for compatible GPU's.

Probably cause it tanked performace in the benchmark. Im pretty sure you could use that custom demo to enable it.

Wait wait wait, so demo version could have the same problems as Benchmark?

VXAO is taxing as hell (20fps) so it's not worth it unless you're running 2x Gtx 1080 or 2x1080Ti's.

For the record, the game is DX11, not DX12.

Its better to just shut up and listen when you don't know anything.

i noticed this too but i guess it might have something to do with fps issues atm when its active.
hope they work on it and get it running on release otherwise these Nvidia features are going to be another waste of time like when witcher 3 used hairworks and it tanked the fps and had massive issues with all cards. they want to sell us nvidia features like hairworks and vxao but still havent worked out the underlining issues they come with.

It's even better to actually tell someone why it's wrong instead of being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it and when you can't be bothered to do that then not saying anything at all.

I based it on Tomb Raider only allowing VXAO in DX11 and not in its DX12 mode, then reading that FFXV would have support for this.

True. In TR you could only enable VXAO in DX11.

It looks like it's just not implemented yet in FFXV.

Either way not many ppl are gonna use it. 20+fps hit is pretty substantial for such a "feature".

Let's be honest, there's also a degree of marketing and idiot-proofing here. Everyone who's been paying close attention knows that VXAO is going to be a very demanding feature that only the highest-end graphics cards will be able to handle.

But, inevitably, if they enabled it in the demo at highest settings, they're going to get a bunch of less observant people yelling "why can't my 1080 run at 1080p on highest settings? Whaaaaaa!!!!" and not realizing that they just need to turn off VXAO. On the other hand, if they don't include it in the demo, people report that the game's well-optimized and the initial reception to the game in the PC gaming community is much more positive.

Basically, I'm saying Square Enix was paying attention to what happened with Mankind Divided and MSAA.

I wouldn't be surprised if VXAO isn't enabled until several weeks after the full game launches TBH.
