BATTLETECH
Why can't we manually shutdown our own mechs?
I was thinking it could be a nice strategy to shutdown a mec so it's not visible on enemy radars. Why is it not possible in the game? Would be an interesting risk vs reward strategy.

Radar doesnt really care if your mech is on or off. It's still going to detect you because you are a giant hulking machine. Case in point, not all vehicles have fusion engines, and your lance will have no problem detecting them.

that is actually a think in BT, you are need to have a BAP to detect shutdown mechs. Is that not in this game?
This can be easily moded into the game.
Shuting down engines is/was a valid ambush strat in btech. Since your not dtectable without BAP or Line of sight.
It's not in the game for now, HBS is likely going to expand on the ECM and BAP/information warfare in general later on.
This game has been desinged to make Battletech accessible to novices. If everyone is eager for more I'm sure DLC or Battletech 2 will have the breathing space to add in more desired features.
Being shut down can make a Mech hader to detect with magnetic anomaly sensors, but that's only going to work in environments with a lot of clutter. Without ECM present, you're still going to get detected under most circumstances other than a fight in an urban environment.

that does seem to be HBS's mo, get the basics in there first and then build upon them.

Well T1 had no Bap or Ecm so expansion might expand on it as lost tech loot.
Game is set in 3025, so no Beagle Active Probe available (was rediscovered in 3045)
"Why can't we enable called headshots against our mechs on demand? My old TT/MW pro strats are IRONCLAD in a new ruleset!"

In the Mechwarrior games shutting down your mech was a valid tactic.

I also hope for electronics warfare to make it into the game later. The Raven is one of my fave mechs. :)

I did not know that.. So even better. You would not know where the mech was for even better ambushes!
Real talk about the Raven though. The Devs are holding it back for, in short, "They still haven't worked out how to make ECM actually interesting and fun".

As fas as I'm aware (so Iv'e been told by others) the Raven didn't have ECM at this time; or certainly not very effective, so it can only come in later on anyway if it is to stay true to canon.

Being able to scramble enemy sensors and targeting systems would make for some interesting tactics imo. (It was fun in mech Commander).
